Howdy to all outdoor hoochie wranglers, both legal and gorilla.
Name is SG1 = Sanctuary Gardens 1

Growing has been a passion for nearly 34 yrs.
Took a few breaks now and then (legal and job issues) but never wandered far.

I grow in northern Oregon where good weather and sunshine can be a bit scarce from time to time.

Last year started with a late beginning to summer, and then an early fall.
Many locals lost entire crops, but personally lost 50% of my harvest to immature and molding bud.

So enough history for now.

To the monster spinners.
I grow in a forest on my land with about a half acre cleared for my grow.
To the south is a beauty of a stand of Doug fir trees standing at 100', unfortunately takes from my sunshine to my plants.

My spinners allow me to grow plants equally on all sides by spinning plants 1/4 turn a day.
Also makes the best all around use of limited sun.

I've grown 6 test plants of the same strain and age, 3 on spinners, and 3 immobile.
At year end I found 2 things out.
Spinners out yielded the stationary plants by 25%.
Also found the spinner plants were much stronger and stood up remarkably better in rainy windy conditions.
Branches didn't sag nearly as much as the stationary plants.

Spinners are stretched steel over a rounded steel frame.
They are built to handle a 1000 lbs.
They are set on steel pipe mounted with 160 lbs cement.
Last years pics.

On top of these spinners I lay a 5' kiddie pool.

I amend my used soil yearly about 3 months prior to planting.
I mix in homemade compost and EWC from my own worm bin,
Also a bunch of good organic amendments.

I keep a live population of worms in each pot and add plenty of long term food in my mix.

I use a roll around plastic cement mixer to mix up all my amendments which include:
Crab, kelp, feather, fishbone, neem meals.
Also add azomite, alfalfa, mycos, and humus.

That's it for my pic limit.
I'll continue with the rest of my spinner set up in a bit.

I'll go into my gear that is going out this year.
Most of my own creation and a few good ole keeps.
Stay tuned, and all are welcome to join in the fun.

Continued introduction:

So anyway, on top of my first soil layer in the kiddie pool, I add 2' fencing.

Inside of fencing is 6 mil black plastic.

I lay down layers of my additives and mix as I fill them.

In total volume, they hold 1.5 yrds of soil or approx. 265 gals of mix.
Plenty enough for some 5 lb plants.

I'm putting out 8 plants this season.
Most are selected from many seeds, and only the best kept.
I'll go into lineage another day when I begin acclimating plants into their outdoor environments.

Plants going out.

Afgooey - An old cutting only indica plant.
Jihad - a 33 y/o cut of a double afghany indica.
Goblin Girl
Dark Goblin
Goblin Queen #1 + #2
Nocturnal #6
Grape Ape
Blue city diesel - pre 98 Jordan of the Islands cut

I listed 9 plants, just because I'm throwing 2 plants in one of the pots.

That's all for now, and a happy, successful outdoor year for all of us.

Welcome all to my world of weirdness.
Well maybe not too weird, but different.

Awesome idea, I've seen people do this on a small scale, just rotating pots by hand, but this is something else. Can't wait to see how it plays out, good luck man!

Thanks to all who subbed up.
I hate a show without an audience.

So anyway, I been using these spinners for 5 years now.
To me, the science/method/madness is well proven.

I've always been a cheap old bastard, and my pot design is just another part of my cheapness.

I priced fabric smart pots at the 250-300 gal size, at the time I could have picked them up for about $50 online.
I didn't care for the way the smart pots sag into a blob, and don't hold their shape.
I also didn't care for the fact that the elements are stealing 50% of your water and some of your nutrients.
I'm a bit stingy and don't like sharing my work with surrounding soil and weeds.
100% of my soil and nutrients go to my plants.

Another biggie for the spinners are that they are off the ground.
If anyone knows the pacific NW, slugs and caterpillars are a big weed predators.
But slugs and caterpillars can't travel upside down for long, let alone on rusty steel.
At $20 for my kiddie pool set up was a cheap solution.

So enough of that.
I'm gonna post some pics of the plants going out.
One thing you will know about me, is I don't care to grow what everyone else is growing.
If it's popular, more than likely, I won't grow it, unless I'm planning to breed with the new addition.

I had the girls out yesterday for acclimating to the sun for a couple hrs.
Raining and cloudy today, so pics are indoors.

This is a cutting only Afgooey in a 3 gal pot.
Indica dominate, bud not very dense, but flavor, scent and high are very top shelf quality.
Has done very well with some of my breeding projects.

Next up is a very good example of quality weed bred from Afgooey.
This is Goblin Girl (Afgooey x Blue widow)BW is Blueberry x white widow.
Some very delicious, dense, sticky, grapey goodness.

This next one (they all look alike, I know) is Dark goblin.
Dark Goblin is from Goblin girl x Blackwater (Mendo purps x SFV-OG)
The few Dark Goblins grown have been super tasty and high in stone value.

This is another example of my Goblin lines.
This is Goblin Queen #1
Bred from Goblin girl x Dark queen ( Blackwater and BCBud "The Purps')

This is GQ #1 indoors

I'll Post up more shortly(damn 5 attachment limits)

Here's a pic of Goblin girl grown indoors.
Just so you get an Idea of what I'm working with.

The next up Is Gob Queen #2
Same breeding as GQ1 (sisters)
Markedly different in bud development.
Real dense and sweet hashy flavor.

A pic of her indoors.

Next up is Nocturnal #6
The breeding on this gal as follows.
Afgooey x Dark queen (Blackwater x The Purps)
Many Nocturnals have been grown by a testing group.
All the females were good, some great.
This Noc is on it's way to a testing lab with 4 others I just flowered.
But I saw perfect structure in this one, so giving her an OD run

Recent indoor, mmmmm tasty.

Hit My pic limit again, damn the torpedos.

See what we got left.

This is a grape ape cut from a Nor Cali buddy.
First time I've grown this one.

This is a very rare cut of Blue city diesel.
This is a pre 98 cut bred from a DJ Shorts Blueberry to a Soma NYC diesel.
It was bred by a fellow named Jordon of the islands.
He supplied seed to Mark Emery (a Canadian) before the American government jailed him, and at the same time, Jordan got busted.
Anything pre bust, was the shit.
Tastes of Blueberry x red ruby grapefruit.
Some seriously sick weed.

Lastly is my oldest cut.
Jihad (named 30+ yrs ago) came from 2 landrace afghany indicas from smuggled seed.
Heavy density, and stone, and comes with a peppery hash flavor.
Just beginning playing with some of her seeds from 2 different crosses.
Bred to Blackwater and The Purps.

So there is my line up.
I still have about 2 weeks to plantings into the spinners.
It will be slow until then.
Peace

:tiphat: I'm all about being social, and sounds we've both been around the block a few hundred times.
Please feel free to interact, unless you prefer silence

A 1/3 of a century of growing knowledge, would be wasted in silence.

Just thinking of sitting on a bucket :moon: makes my butt hurt :dance013:
