MAY 6TH ITS ON! DE LA HOYA VRS MAYORGA
So who do you guys have your money on? Hoya is an awesome boxer but has been out of the ring for about 2 years and has only been training for 2 months or something, Mayorga has never had any technique except to throw his bricks for hands all over the place. He's not in the best shape but has the most powerful blows in his weight class. I have MY money on Hoya :-) I can't wait for this fight, it's going to be a good one.. a really good one

Delajolla for sure. If it comes to a decision they'll give it to Oscar. They always do. I don't really like Oscar(lost respect when he thought he had the fight won and ran for 3 rounds vs. Trinidad), but I think he will pull it off. He has too much to lose.He has a tough apponent though. He can take a blow. Ahhhh I remember the days of Mexican fighters like Chavez? Boxing isn't the same now a days.

I loved De La Hoya when he was a boxer with passion. Now he is just another boxer looking for a paycheck on Pay per view. He hasn't been the same since Trinidad and Mosely kicked his ass. He will still pull the crowd but I think the fight will be boring. Oscar always waits to late in the fight to realize he needs a knock out to win. In other words I won't be paying for it on PPV and I won't be subscribing to HBO just to see it.
He is not the same fighter he used to be that is for sure. Mo, |

I know ... I would watch it if it was free. I love a good boxing match. It is a shame that boxing is suffering the way it is. It is my favorite sport outside of Nascar and Football.

Yep.. love my boxing
On the subject of De La Hoya - (great fighter once upon a time) will he be ready after 2 months of training and 2 years out? I know Kosta tzu (light welter) took two years out and came back and beat everyone so it can be done. I'm looking into coming over state side for May 13th when Britain's own hitman - Ricky Hatton (reigning and undefeated IBF Light Welterweight Champion and WBO ranked #1 Light welterweight in the world) comes to the States to fight Luis Collazo in Boston on the 13th for the Welterweight Championship. He's moving up a weight division to fight this guy so let's see if he can do it. If you haven't heard of Ricky - look out for him he can be awesome. The trouble is most British fighters tend to go State Side and just get beat up. Except Lennox Lewis of course. Hamed was good over here and then got beat up by Barrera over there. Bruno, well he was good over here and then got beat up by pretty much every American he fought. I miss the days of Sugar Ray, Hagler, Hearns and Duran. They were some of the most exciting fights in boxing history I reckon. Peace. |

Oh yeah DeLaHoya the whole way. They havent posted the odds yet but my guess is at least a 3-1 favorite in vegas.
Im a huge pride-fighting and UFC, KOC etc. fan, and after all the great MMA fightrs Boxing just doesnt it for me that much anymore. Look at the heavyweight situation, what a joke. Finally were supposed to clarify a few things w James Toney and Rahman, and they end up w a draw, in a boring fight that rahman should have won. I am looking forward to DeLaHoya Mayorga just because of all the shit talking, But I think its a mismatch moneymaker. I really am looking forward to Matt Hughes taking on Royce Gracie may 27th....Im a huge Gracie fan, and although Matt is the favorite I gotta go with Royce. Even though I think hes gonna get his ass kicked

I daydream of Mayorga landing a wild shot after tempting Hoya to brawl....but De La Hoya is a smart & talented boxer who wants a WIN badly enough to be patient.
good match up. Mayorga has a STRONG ching and good hands. should be an interesting fight. personally, I don't think Mayorga is smart or lucky enough. don't think Hoya will knock out Mayorga. decision for Hoya. |
