Update- Only 4 out of the 8 germinated. GP told me these beans are real fresh so I decided to pull the 4 that didn't germ and put them back in the pack. I'll try them again later. Replaced them today with the remaining 4.
The ones that did germinate are now above ground. Pics later on today. |

Yeah some people like to crack their beans if they don't pop. Or scrape them. I've never had luck with that. What has worked several times though is to let them dry out and then soak them again. I've heard a theory that the expansion and contraction from going wet to dry to wet again loosens up the shell a bit. Makes sense to me. All I know is it has worked more than once.
I had a friend a while back who was gonna throw out his beans angry they didn't germ so I just took them off his hands. Let them dry. Soaked them again a couple weeks later and 4 out of 5 germinated. |

I'm good at manual cracking, but feel it's cheating to them.. if they don't pop there not meant to live... but yeah pretty sure it's a case of fresh beans.. brother did it once on some AK beans I gave him and it worked.. haha great story sorry there weren't more at the initial start! you can blame me GP
