On my rooted clones, I put the light within an two or three inches of the plant. As long as there is not to much damaging heat radiating from the flouro bulb. The ballast is the heat source on those so, you can get the bulb pretty damn close.

Yeah I keep my overdriven floros as close as possible to the clones.
Just keep them as close as the clones will allow |

I try to keep them as close as possible, within a few inches. Unless you have heat issues, which I don't w/4ft floros, you'll be fine.

Hi, If this is the bulb you have(x2orx4) Then the last place you want to put your new cuttings is within cm's of the bulb. I've used mine for over a year and find 12"-18" for new cuttings works best to start with, try and keep humidity high. And move closer in time.
Hope this is of some help to you. I use an Osram Dulux 55w/840 x2 |

London Calling was the only one who gave the correct advice.
![]() Everyone was right but not everyone realized what Ped was asking. He is new to cloning and he just cut his clones. My fresh cuttings get misted and placed off to the side a foot or so from my 4 ft floro shop lights. They need a couple days at least before giving them much light. Often clones lay over a bit at first then stand back up but the last thing the unrooted clone can handle is heat or too much light. They need some though and as soon as they can handle it as evidenced by a leaf response lifting upward toward the lights you dont need lights close. When rooted of course they are the same as any plant and can almost touch the tubes but I recommend no less than 1 inch from tubes of the regular 40 wat 4 ft variety and 2-3 inches is close enough especially if you have a good bank of lights. BOG ![]() Mist them and keep them cool and far from those lights...

He didn't frame his question that way until we had already responded.
LC had the benifit if that last post by Ped to help with his answer. On my fresh cut clones I put in the aerocloner and put a stationary Agrosun flouro set approx.16-18" of the top of th deck. Once rooted good, I repot from cloner and drop the lights down on their ass within about 2" max. Tex |
