There was a thread with all kinds of wonderful ways to keep yourself safer on the internet, and I could use it and can't find it now. I juest got a flash drive, and have Tor and antivirus/firewall/antispyware, but also remember something about compartmentalizing or something like that where you basically create a virtual world where you can't be traced. How? Where did that thread go?

yeah man think that is it, THANKS! Although I thought it was a lot longer, like 3 or 4 pages, but the opening post seems exactly like I remember. It is pointed out there that "lots" of security can draw red flags. But what is the alternative? Do nothing to protect yourself? That song "Rape Me" by Nirvana comes to mind!

I think for my needs, a good firewall/antivirus/antispyware package or seperate entities is a start. Then No Script, Ghostery, Tor and maybe a few other things. Proxies that you buy seem too expensive and may as it's been said draw too much attention. As far as bad exit nodes, I know nothing about that. I heard it said somewhere that you can run your whole machine off of a USB Flash Thumb drive, and just got one of those for that purpose. But how do you get all the necessary stuff to do that onto the flash drive? That is what I am most interested getting help with. Thanks!
