TEST GROW | Border Haze - (Super Silver Haze X Golden Mexican Sativa)

Hello everyone,

Since I am testing this strain for Cannafornia, I am going to be migrating my existing vert thread here because I have 4 ladies about 4 weeks into flowering already and I wanted to test these beans on 12/12 from seed on a micro scale.

Here is some background on my setup-

Nutes-
GH Flora Series - Now using Lucas Method
GH CaliMagic

Medium-
100% Perlite Hempy
Rockwool for clones and beans

Light-
150w HPS in custom cool tube rigged for vert

Ventilation-
Td100X fan, low setting
2 4" passive intakes
1 - OdorSok Carbon Filter

Box-
Custom Ikea cabinet

Yield-
First grow (IN THIS CAB), horizontal was between 3-4oz dried. I am aiming for more this round with the vert setup.

Germination Technique-
Soak for 12-24 hours in PH'd room temp distilled water. After soaking, I put them in between wet paper towels and put in a Tupperware container on top of my modem. This makes for a good RH and temps in the container that hold the seeds are around 82-85* F.

Here are some pics from the past up to its current state as a vert setup-

Problem:
We need to find out what traits these Border Haze beans posses as well as find out how they do on a 12/12 from seed light schedule in a confined space.

Background Research of Border Haze:
Border Haze ~~BH~~

Super Silver Haze:

25% Skunk X 25% Northern lights X 50% Haze

Category:The Naturals - Old school genetics
Breeder: Nevil and Shantibaba's
Preferred medium:Bio and Hydro,
Indoors and outdoors/greenhouse

Effect: the most indica between the sativa's,
a classic hit.
Strong, long lasting, blasting
Flowering indoor: 10-11 weeks

Description:
Perhaps the most award-winning strain ever created,
Super Silver Haze was the prized brainchild
of renowned Green House breeder Shantibaba.

A fusion of 2 of the most desirable commercial strains
(Skunk #1 and Northern Lights #5)
and the racy and rangy Haze C, SSH is considered by many
to be the perfect Sativa-dominant hybrid,
combining the best in mental and physical effects.

The addition of the Skunk and NL
keep the flowering times and size manageable for indoor growth,
making the normally-equatorial Haze feasible for indoor growing.

Patient Expectations
Scent: Pine, menthol, and sour citrus are the main
smells with this variety
— some can get more towards the flowery Haze side
of the spectrum as well.

Flavor: Citrus-pine Haze with some eucalyptus notes.

Effects: Energetic and a little racy immediately,
it fills the head with a variety of cycling pressure and a buzzing
but at times misguided energy.

It’s one of those that gets you out of your seat and looking
for something to do, but often results in meandering and lots
of random activities rather than anything focused.
At times increasing visual and auditory sharpness,
this strain is great for creative types as well.

As it progresses, the Skunk and NL influences come into play,
making it more of a relaxing experience over the second half
of the duration, including some quality body relaxation and pain relief.

Recommended as a daytime or early evening med primarily,
it has great energetic, ocular, motivating, creative,
appetite stimulation, and mood-elevating properties.

Hypothesis for this grow-
I am very interested to see how a sativa dominant strain runs in the setup. I am doing 12/12 from seed so I believe I will be seeing single colas that reach pretty high due to the sativa traits. I also believe I will be seeing fairly steady phenotypes showing themselves per what I have read on other grow threads and watching people grow these out. It seems pretty stable compared to some other beans I have tested in the past. I am also going to test how fast it takes to clone under 12/12 for these Border Haze plants. I do this currently for my other strains and it DOES take a little longer, but it still works. It will be interesting to compare how this strain does.

3/12/13-
Received the beans and that evening, I let them soak in the PH'd water for 12 hours.

Description of the seeds-
5 dark tiger stripped seed, 1 lighter colored seed with minimal stripping.

3/13/13-
Transferred the beans into my paper towel / tupperware setup for the rest of the germination process.

Great descriptions of goals and research done prior to starting the seeds. Who could ask for more...

I've done her 12/12 from seed and clone but with the light being 2'-3' above them...lol She will reach for the light, till she finds a sweet spot...
Be it a foot or five feet... lol

Im stocked to see it done right with lights being close and trained for her environment...

Thinking of her in micro + 12/12 terms...

I doubt she will have lateral branching till late in the stretch, with the tall pheno if not pinched heavily through out.

The shorter pheno would most likely go center fat cola with lateral branching and not stretch all that much... Untouched/trained

Anyway you look at it,this is going to be one hella fun show to watch...

Thank you for taking the effort and giving the limeted space to the Hazy one.. Solid start,Kief....

Awesome info man, I think it will go great, the ladies in there now have stopped stretching for the most part and are just getting fatter now, the beans will move in closer to the light and have the priority light space when it comes time, everything should be great!

Thanks again for dropping some knowledge in here, always good to learn more. How does she like to be fed- heavy or is she sensitive??

Thanks very much again, AD
