Been sitting the sidelines for a bit taking care of family and security issues and life in general and I think I'm close to being back in action. I'm 95% sure I have a secure spot secured and seeking a second spot as well. Order some new equipment and all to get the ball rolling. I really wanted to try the DE bulb setup but I'm small time and it just really wasn't a feasible or economical decision for my situation. Height requirement for proper heat exchange and cost played an important role in my decision.

Anyway, was able to pick up 2 Solis Tek Matrix ballast for $190 shipped. The price, 5-year warranty, and majority positive feedback is what swayed my decision on these. Could of went with Horti bulbs for around $65-70 but found the Solis Tek bulbs for $60 shipped, 1-yr warranty. I figured matched ballast and bulb plus the little extra UV they put out can't hurt even if they aren't as good as Horti. Another reason I chose the ballast is to use the 400W dimmable feature to run some old, but new 400 MH bulbs I had laying around, now I have my veg setup. Got a fan and a Phresh Filter - 700+CFM which should be fine for the space I plan to use. Not sure on if I'll buy a tent or build something. Got some leftover nutes and additives, I'll use some but will be buying more, not sure which line yet. A few nick nacks here and there and I'm all set.

The only decision left is what to run and what grow method I'd like to use. I'm leaning coco again but still weighing all options including going back to 100% organic soil/teas. Maybe a soil/coco blend, I just don't know yet, lots of factors to consider. I'm thinking 2-3 strains(20-30 seeds). I'm leaning towards the Alpine Lemon Larry, something from my Bodhi stash, and maybe something else, possibly the Biker's from Karma. I'm pretty sure on the Bodhi and strongly in favor of the Larry but that 3rd choice is gonna be a killer for me.

Anyways guys, that's what I'm up to. Thoughts...suggestions??

It's been a while since I started this thread but I think I'm ready to get going again, it's now or never..LOL

Couple things I'm set on:

Will be running a soil/coco blend; FFOF, Happy Frog, Worm Castings, Ancient Forest, CocoTek chips/pith mix, Perlite. Mix will be amended organically with plenty of goodies.

Seedlings and early veg will be done under a 400W bulb running off the Solistek ballast set at 400W. Middle-late veg will see the 2nd Solistek and another 400W bulb totaling 800W. I'll run one 1000 or a combo 1000 + 400 in veg if needed. Bloom will see the whole 2000W.

I'm still kind of stuck on what to pop and how many. How much is too much for 2000W if I'd like to average 2-3 oz per plant. Pop 30, half males = 15 x 2=30 15 x 3 =45. Pop 40, half males = 20 x 2=40 20 x 3=60. Honestly, I'd be happy with 1lb per light but wouldn't turn my nose to a little. What's more realistic to accomplish with my given setup?

As far as seeds, I know for a fact I'm doing something from Bodhi, something from Karma, and the Lemon Larry's from Alpine. I'd also like to preserve the last few Pink Kush beans I have before they get too old and F2 the Killer Chemdog I have. I can't do both at the same time, but can't decide which I want to do more. I'm leaning toward the KC because I don't think the PK would compliment the other strains I want to run. My plan is to use some pollen on the other stuff I have running and finally, yes finally get around to getting some freebies in.

Any suggestions or questions to what I have so far? I tested my lights today looking for RF interference with cable/internet/AM radio and all seems good so I was hoping to get some beans to popping today or tomorrow. I also have some other stuff in the fridge so if you guys would rather see that, please drop your suggestion here.

Well, took a while but finally made the decision to pop the following:

12 - Karma Genetics Biker Kush V.1 - (Hell's Angel-OG X (HA-OG X SFV OG BX2)

12 - Bodhi Seeds Pura Vida - (Hollywood Pure Kush X Appalachia)

10 - Gage Green Genetics Leia OG - (Skywalker OG X Grape Stomper OG)

6 - Alpine Seeds Lemon Larry OG ibl - (Elite Lemon Larry P1 X ELL P5)

40 seeds total



I'll do my best to keep this thread updated for anyone that's interested and following but it's mainly for helping me keep track of time.

Should be some killer funk in those seeds. I grew Leia OG for a bit. Really liked her structure thick ass branches. Make sure to top and tie them apart if your looking for a bush. The branches like staying towards the main stem. This was my girl

She's a beaut jd, from most of the photos I've seen online, this cross turned out some decently structured plants in comparison to the lanky nature of OG's. Looking forward to see what I come across.

Yesterday, I let the seeds take a nice long bath in a little rain water I collected recently. After 24hrs, 5 of the 6 Lemon Larry's had popped tap roots while bathing. All other seeds had sunk but none had cracked. All were placed into moist paper towels using the rain water and placed inside individual ziploc sandwich bags and into a tupperware bowl with lid. Will report germ ratios in the next few days as things progress.
