R.C. Clarke describes this technique he saw in Afghanistan in his book "Hashish!". I've never tried this technique (which Clarke describes as lifting the fine mesh bag and dropping it down over and over again and this bag was passed around the room and that it takes a long time to really clean up the sift, he also said you could see clouds of fine dust (contaminant) passing through the fine bag.

how long does it take you to purify average tumbler sift into 80% + purity? Do you also use the lift and drop technique?

100 grams of raw tumbled kief can be done in about 20 mins. Yes it is the lift and drop technique. I haven't seen R.C. Clarke's book I'll have to ck it out...

dry sift is great.. but if u use nugs for bho.. or trim right after your done trimming the nugs.. put it directly into the tube.. and spray.. and u get some amazing tasting and selling bho.. it all depends man.. me personally I am a variety man.. I have 3-4 kinds of dry sift.. 3-4 kinds of bho shatters.. a few kinds of bubble bag hash.. I mix up a few kinds of shatter. and a few kinds of dry sift.. with some heat.. and make some amazingly tasty jellyhash.. so all in all.. I got 4 strains of dry sift.. 4 strains of shatter.. 2 kinds of bubblehash.. and 1 mix of all the dry sift strains. n the bho strains. to make a nice fat piece of shatter jelly hash.

The most educated person I know on the subject goes for dry sift almost exclusively. How long does change take ?

People are already starting to realize how much better of a high a good dry sift provides over anything else available.

Change is happening right in front of us.

Part of why I gave up my method as well, it was just time...

2) The high is better......Ice water hash and petrochemical derived oils often have a higher potency, but the high from ice hash lacks a fullness and oils often have a foggy high.

3) Dry sift is faster to produce....I can be smoking dry sift long before before you even finish mixing your Bubblebags or even before you complete the first steps of butane extractions

4) It's safer...there's no problems with water, electricity and getting electrified nor is there a concern about butane or alcohol explosions

5) etc etc

Add you own reasons why!..and if you think that butane extracted oils or Bubble bag hash is better, please start your thread telling us why.
1) False - Dry sieve does not taste better than ice water sieve. The "essence" of the resin does not disappear, what you smell in the water are the terpenes that have leaked from the rupture point, resin does not dissolve in water.
2) The high is better??? Why would it be it is still the same resin.
3) Dry sieve is most definitely faster to produce and as good and clean as ice water
4) Ice water sieving dangerous, seriously???
5) Etc. etc.

I really haven't got a CLUE what you all are talking about....

I grow it, chop it, trim it, dry it, cure it, and smoke it...

I guess I've been living in a cave...

You may not live in a cave but you sure don't do much with your trims.

1) False - Dry sieve does not taste better than ice water sieve. The "essence" of the resin does not disappear, what you smell in the water are the terpenes that have leaked from the rupture point, resin does not dissolve in water.

In my opinion, dry sifted hash always tastes than ice water hash. ..and yes, of course resin doesn't dissolve in water but let's face it, take a plant, separate into two, dry sift one half and Bubble bag the other half then compare...there's a difference. The difference is readily apparent in the taste and to some extent the high. Ice hash has a higher. cleaner high, but it's a "thinner" high, whereas dry sift has a fuller, broader high....taste wise, ice hash is like a very clean clear liqour and dry sift is Scotch. By the way, the post you answered point by point was written about butane extractions as well as ice water has, so obviously, resin doesn't dissolve in water but it does in petrochemicals.

4) Ice water sieving dangerous, seriously???

I guess we can all agree that dry sifting is the safest method for making hash, butane extractions are the most dangerous in the hands of idiots and ice water hash is inbetween and closer to dry sift. Is ice hash making dangerous?, not for you, me and 99% of the people out there, but combine a stoned idiot, water on the floor and an electric drill and we will have another candidate for the annual Darwin Awards.

2) The high is better??? Why would it be it is still the same resin.

The same?...in my opinion, no it's not. One has been rinsed in water and the other hasn't ...rinsing affects the taste and to some extent the high. Here's an example, cut an apple then eat half, cut the other half in small pieces and soak in water for half an hour...tell me which one tastes best.

5) Etc. etc.

How about adding why you think dry sift is better.....here's another one - it's ten times easier to handle than petrochemical extracted goo.
