Pure acting genius, one of the best. What a great body of work you've left us.

Hope you went out thinking happy thoughts, you poor sad fucker.

A moment of silence far all those who suffer from the scourge of hard drugs.

Addiction is a disease, and it affects everyone, whether it be drugs, alcohol, or cigarettes. Lost my aunt to booze & dope, and my grandmother to liquor.

he put his own needs ahead of his family's, completely selfish. as a former addict I understand hard drug addiction, but when I abused I had no familial obligations, no dependents whatsoever.

my sympathy goes out to his family.

All addiction is selfish. When your brain is addled/controlled by drugs, you don't think about others that may be affected by your behavior, because you are consumed by your addiction. You cannot expect rational behavior from an addict. I'm pretty sure he didn't mean to hurt his family.

So strange. I just watched him the other night in "The Master" with Joaquin Phoenix. One of the great actors of our time. Had no idea he had drug issues. Sorry for his kids.

You young folks shouldn't be to hard on the man. A junkies different from the rest of us dopers.
Here's what I would bet real money what happened-PSH was clean had hadn't done any skag in quite some time. A friend maybe gave him the drug telling him how good it was. So he goes to his apprt. to boot his dope. The second or third time he did some that was all it toke. Just like Janis. Junkies think they can ride that white horse just like they did in the past. No you've got to have that tolerance for the big dose. Getting caught with the fit in your arm is pretty bad.

His kids don't need to know anything about this. Let's help them not find out.

I think Ibogaine should be much more widely known, and used, to treat opium (derivative) addiction.

People shouldn't to through their lives addicted to heroin. There is a choice, and it isn't just about 'character'.

This is not a plug, because like weed, Iboga rootbark is part of a natural plant, which everyone can grow if they want to. It's even easier to grow than weed (no flowering stage), and shouldn't cost anyone more than $25 for a few grams, retail.

When I heard about Philip Seymour Hoffman's death, I kept thinking about Layne Staley, who was probably in about same year too. Layne never got over the death of his girlfriend, Lara Murphy, possibly also heroin related.

I think Iboga should be prescribed more.
