The Pure Original Skunk#1 Fan's Thread
Welcome to all!
This thread is for all information about skunk#1(T.F.D or not) you want to put in it. Also, you can put info on all the T.F.D strain you want, because they are all skunk hybrid. By all information i mean grow show, galleries, smoke report ect. The info i put out here is from the best of my knowledge and ressources i've gathered on the internet over the last 2 years. Its mainly a synthesis of the thread started by Crowmax : https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=21773 Pedigree : The original sam's skunk#1 is a three-way hybrid of - ( Colombian Gold x Afghani ) x Acapulco Gold - So genetically 75% sativa. Its extensivly inbred, true-breeding since the late seventies. Almost 3 decades of works now, in fact. Very homogenous IBL. Skunky Skunk VS Sweet Skunk : The old-school extremly skunky skunk#1 (hence the name) was that way when the skunkman created it in the U.S of A before the mid-80's. With further in-breeding, the skunk genepool goes down the sweet side of thing. The skunky smell is a trait from the afghani used in the breeding process. While choosing the more sativa-leaning skunk, it becamed sweet. This is the skunk we know today, sometime referred to "Dutch Skunk". The Skunkman already confirmed on OverGrow while ago that the skunky skunk was just a bit more potent, but much more "couch-lock". However, for the old-timer that still want that old-school taste, there are a few alternatives: - U.K "The Cheese". A clone-only elite with a funky extremely pungent smell/taste. The legend say its a 1988 vintage SensiSeeds elite pheno of skunk#1. With luck, i will be blessed with this clone in not too long. There is also "Big Buddha Cheese", wich is a multiple time cheese backcross, that have received good reviews, but the original is the best for sure. - Hill Temple Collective (ogbub) Skunk. The origin are a bit of a mystery, but from OGBub himself, its very skunky in aroma/taste and far from low-odor. Give it a try. - SensiSeedBank Afghani#1(or any other pure afghan of that line). Very strong odour, very skunky/hashy, very pungent. Probably the most stinky landrace there is. 100% indica so don't have the cerebral buzz of a Skunk#1. Growing Wise : Skunk#1 is very very high yielding. This come mainly from the rock hard nugget trait of the afghani indica crossed with the calyx-to-leaf ratio trait of the sativa's. This combination of traits give monster buds with low number of trim leafs that can break-off the plant under their own weigth. The stature of the plant is very short, much like an afghan, so perfectly suitable for S.O.G methods and alike. At 8-9 weeks,The flowering time is very short too, for a mostly sativa high. The Pure is not a strain prone to hermaphrodism (in good condition its just shouldnt) but its not hermie proof though... a few people was getting herm with the skunk#1 freebies but most do not. Breeding Wise : This is where the skunk kick ass. The fact that its a mostly sativa strain but with enormous yield and quick flowering period, its very useful for you to make your own sucessfull hybrid. Both for shorting up long flowering sativa, or add vigour,calyx-to-leaf ratio and a sativa punch to indica. Another nice side-effect is raising the quantity and « meltyness » level of the resin production of a pure sativa cross. Beeing true-breeding for all the desired traits, i dont think you need more then 1 pack to find your mother/father. Take what you think is your most vigourous male and cross it with what you think is your best females. I think skunk is high seed yielding so that make a very nice seeds backup. Smoking Wise : From my own smoking experience (only one time, which sucks) The Pure give a 2/3 sativa high. Not trippy. not paranoid . not racy. And actually very relaxing at the same time. Very floral/fruity in taste. The very perfect working pot. There is what herbie3000 thinks about that - « the heightened psychic/mental consciousness of the sativa is nicely balanced with a secure indica, pain-relieving consciousness. Laughs and happy times, a blessed relief from the stress of life. the best thing is it makes you happy. There are in my exp 2 main smelling phenos: skunky& savoury and one sweet&fruity. Yet they both taste very similar - truly satisfying dank taste - and give similar highs (happy, confident, imaginative, intelligent high). Even though people are saying this isn't skunky enough it's still a ripe fruity smell that at least i would know was ganja from 50 yards. » - This quote has been heavily modified. There's not a lot of review on the net, and since OG/CW is down there is even less. In fact, the only review/growshow i have found on ICmag is from Budgrinder. But herbie3000 and Crowmax currently working hard to change that ![]() grow show = https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=8293 smoke report = https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=12142 All pictures are wanted, from seed to hashish! here's a little pictorial of some tfd's the pure, which is original skunk #1. it's a grower's dream strain in many ways (this grower's, anyway lol).
TAG-monk's doing some valuable work here. this strain is the indoor grower's original godmother and we all owe something to the skunk. come on people, let's see em! pure from seed on a wick system: same plants 18 days 12/12: 25 days 12/12: |

33 days 12/12:
40 days 12/12: 48 days 12/12: harvest due next week. more pics to come. i hope you like the pure people. it's often overlooked but is underrated through over-familiarity. big fat buds with minimal aggro. the high and taste are fantastic. it's a great smoke, cerebral but balanced, happy and potent. free up the skunk! thanks TAG for getting this together. (glad you enjoyed the hockey! ) many more pics available. i've currently got these: and these: as well as those babas above. all are skunk number one. all are the flying dutchmen's 'the pure'. if you haven't grown a skunk then you must. if you have and you did/didn't like it, please add some photos/comments so we can build a decent resource on this, the grandmother of all indoor hybrids. Hi Tagmonk, Herbie
![]() Some old photos: The Pure was very vigour and growing fast from beggining. Was needed to use Bottled water for the first weeks because the city water was causing PH low/high problems. After starting bottled water and transplanting them they took off! My plan was to veg them just a little bit (15 days) and then put them for flowering... (plants in small cups and pots are AK48) |

Hello again,
They were given 2ml BioBizz Fishmix each watering in their veg cycle, the soil was a mix of 50% Allmix - 50% Coco mix by BioBizz too. Couple of days before switch to 12/12 they were feed with 3ml BioBizz Grow. "The Pure" are in the bigger pots (center), not in the cups or the smaller pots. Here few photos... |

TM, just a quick Q, did you notice much phenotypical variation with your skunk#1's I ask this because I hear it's a true IBL with excellent stability but with no first hand experience of my own I just wanted to know what your experience with the strain was. Also, beautiful looking plants there, I hope that one day, I too will be able to grow like that... all the best...
