Help me decide ;)
I wanted to try a few varieties outdoors this year but I'm not sure how long I'll stay here (a job thing) and I don't know if I can even grow something (tomatos incl.
). Therefore, I decided to do a quick&dirty indoor seed run now (not sure if that'll work out, though -> complete indoor newbie).Unfortunately, I have the space for ~2 varieties indoors instead of the 12 I originally selected. I could need some help decide which of that dozen would be best. What's important for me: A) I want to make seeds to maintain the variety as is B) Do some fun crosses with Finola C) Outdoor suitability in Central Europe @ 46°N D) Flavour (strong but lovely, flowery or fruity sweet) and ornamental qualities go over potency and yield E) Too early harvest (i.e. Indian Landraces) does no harm, plants should be disease resistent though F) My favourites are Nepalese and Bushmans Now here's the list of my priority one candidates: X18 (Tom Hill): Landrace Pakistan, 100% indica Pakistan Chitral Kush(aka PCK, CannaBioGen): Landrace Pakistan, 100% indica Durbakistan (Tropical Seeds Company): F1, Durban x PCK, 50% indica & 50% sativa Erdbeer 'Jurabeeri' (aka Original Swiss Strawberry, Helvetic Seeds): 50% indica & 50% sativa Ducksfoot (Underground Seeds): 'Landrace Wallyduck Island ', webbed leaves, mainly sativaNepalese (The Real Seed Company): Landrace Himalaya, sativa with indica pheno Purpurea ticinensis (Owl's Swiss Seeds): Old Swiss strain, 100% sativa Kumaoni (The Real Seed Company): Landrace Himalaya, 100% sativa Malana Cream (The Real Seed Company): Landrace Himalaya, 100% sativa Ciskei (aka Bushmans, Tropical Seeds Company): Landrace South Africa, 100% sativa) Golden Tiger (ACE seeds): Semi-stable cross, Malawi x Meao Thai, 100% sativa Vietnam Black x Thai (ACE seeds): F1, Vietnam x Meao Thai, 100% sativa Just for the sake of completeness, here also my second choices: Deep Chunk (Tom Hill): Landrace Afghanistan, 100% indica Mazar-i-Sharif (The Real Seed Company): Landrace Afghanistan, 100% indica Taskenti (CannaBioGen):mainly Usbekistan, 100% indica Peyote Purple (CannaBioGen):'Highbred' hybride, mainly indica China Yunnan (ACE seeds): Landrace China, mainly indica Bangi Haze (ACE seeds): F6, (Bangi Congo x (Congo #3 x PCK)) x Nepal indica, sativa indica hybride 8 Miles High (Mandala): F1, Africa (sativa) x North India (indica), 50% indica & 50% sativa Purple Paro Valley (Mandala): F2, landrace Bhutan hybride, 25% indica & 75% sativa Guatemala (ACE seeds): Landrace Guatemala, 100% sativa Colombia Mangobiche (CannaBioGen):Landrace Columbia, 100% sativa Jarilla Sinaloa (CannaBioGen):Landrace Mexico, 100% sativa Nanda Devi (The Real Seed Company): Landrace Himalaya, 100% sativa Kerala (The Real Seed Company): Landrace South India, 100% sativa Notably, I'd appreciate critical comments and suggestions like 'Don't take this but that because of....' Furthermore, it'll be nice if you could tell me, why I should not take one of these for an outdoor grow (cause I know why I should take it LoL) and which strain would be better suited. Thanks!

Nice seed list, ornamental.
If you like Nepalese and S African, take a Ciskei or BangiHaze and a Nepalese area origin strain like NandaDevi or PurpleParoValley(Mandala). I heard that the RSC's Himalayan landraces have some variation and are generally slow to start flowering, so you should do some selection for the central European climate and choose the early phenos, if you encounter them. I'll follow your progress, it sounds very interesting to me as I'm also in the search of mostly landrace strains for my climate. |

Hi Koondense
Thanks .I don't know what I like . Back in the day I smoked 'weed' and that's that. Last year I started growing some strains (mainly older Cali and Dutch stuff) which were more or less nice but they were hybrids and hybrids of hybrids. I had no chance to say: I like this or that origin. So I decided to go for landraces and alike. Why would you go with BangiHaze or the two Nepalese I have in the 'second choice' category and not the two 'first choices'?

Hey ornamental,
about your first choices - I heard the RSC strains are really pure form, not worked and thus with more variation than the others, like Mandala or Ace seeds. It also means the start of flowering will be adapted to the land or climate of origin. Someone who grew RSC's Malana Cream said she was very late to start and would finish only by end november, but that was for an altitude of 1000m+, so maybe low temps played a role. I imagine there are better phenos, more suited for what you seek, so it's only fair to say - go try what your gut tells you ![]() The options I mentioned in the previous post are supposed to be earlier in general, that's why I'd choose them. I hope you don't mind a question, where do you grow(which country)? U can respond via PM ![]() Cheers |

I would go with the x18, and the pck, or the pck x's. I'm at almost the same lat, and if you want strains that will finish in time, those are gonna be where it's at.

Durbakistan, PCK for color/structure/flowering time traits and Malana cream.
I've grown Nanda Devi and this is not something you'd want to grow indoors unless you have a big room. Great resistances as with many himal strains. Nanda finishes in october as well. I've seen a malana cream grow that was outdoors and it yielded some strong, early and insanely resinous plants. Would love to grow this variety. |

It doesn't really matter if they finish or not
. Main reason for me growing cannabis is because they are lovely plants and I'll use most of 'em for tea (like peppermint or black tea, not bhang).BTW, my 'indoor grow room' will be a terrarium of 2 x 1 x 2 meters; 2 x 80 W full spectrum HO T5, a 100 W and a 160 W zoo version self-ballasted MegaRay plus eventually a 70 W MH MegaRay or an old mercury-vapor lamp (60W?). So, light's not optimal for the surface but I have even too much hight. But what the heck .

OO with that list it´s very hard to go wrong when one follows your selection criteria.
I understand why do you ask for help, just a case of properly done research ![]() Well done! Just out of personal experience&taste i would go for Ducksfoots x Mazzar or Colombia Mangobiche X Golden Tiger.
