You have to do a 6 year tester course at Harvard first before you can qualify to test seeds.

Hello, relic1981.. Great question...

Im in the process of selecting my 2nd set of tester for a gene pool im building to be worked on at a later date.

This being my 2nd request for tester.
I can only give you a glimpse as to what those that have been here many years working their lines/genetics into some truly wonderful seeds for us all to enjoy.

Might look for in a tester...

Grow threads from beginning to end with details and photos as well as smoke reports...
Prior test completed for either themselves or others...

Those 2 things alone IMO will get you placed on many tester list...

Luckily there are people at different levels and for different reason need/want their work tested and are willing to pay the cost of offering beans to be tested... People such as myself...
Being fairly new to the MAG myself I still have many lessons to be learned and am more open to allowing unknown members test my work... It's a calculated bet on my part, just as much as on your part for offering your space and time...

This "Sub-forum"Seedbay tester,is a great place to see what/how different people approach running a test for another member...

Check out a few test....
look at the test on the 1st page and see how the people that put a little effort into the favor they offer to do(test) are sought after and asked to test new flavors....
Those that don't finish or never run the beans in the 1st place.
Are no longer testing... Trust me...People remember...
Those that run weak shows... Few details a couple photos are thanked and for whatever reason, dont make the next list...Humm...

So to answer your question...

Yes.. You can be a tester with limited info about you but many years at the MAG and a good attitude... Someone like myself will always be willing to give someone like yourself(never having tested at the MAG) a chance...

The bigger question is...

Can you get a 2nd,3rd chance to test for bigger and better flavors ?

Thanks for asking... lol

Im testing for Green Path seeds,myself...

How lucky did I get...

Testing is more of a privilege to the seed maker than to the tester.

The seed makers need testers, not the other way around.

They should be gracious that people test them rather than make a list of requirements.....

Just my opinion.

I totally agree Spider ...

Seed makers need tester.
Testers want seeds.

Have you noticed how few ask for tester,anymore..
Have you noticed the members starting tester packs no one knew we're offered.

Just things I think about. ...lol

Why would I keep sending seed to be tested if I don't learn anything from it.

That's what freebies are for.
Which are not free, till you buy something

2 cents

AD man I just have to say out of all my years dealing with breeders (orchids too) you probably have the most level headed thought process on the subject. I certainly have to commend you for that.....most generally behave like petulant children who feel they are on a perch above the rest. Enough ass kissing now where's those free seeds? The things that amuse at 4am and all...

I learned a long time ago that you don't get answers unless you ask questions.
