The longer veg requirement sure is a space eater also.
I also agree with YH walk before you run with larger setup. That's is alot of heat to manage with 8K maybe 4k as a test run is more doable. If you had (2)1000w and (4-6) 400w in flower cycle you could easily maintain the kinda 4-6 lbs. with 4-6 plants. The output would probably get closer to 8-10lbs per cycle. With all that being said, I haven't done it but, have been reading and researching for an eventual full room grow. For me the lower plant count was going to be critical to maintain my medical marijuana protection. They are all at least as far as I know based on 7-12 plants and up to 4oz in some states of dried bud.Cali pushing for a canopy sq.ft. qualification, but I don't know that they got it. I was looking at having 4 plants in full on flower with 3 to 4 select mothers feeding the process. On the 4 plants flowering I would have a single 1000w hanging verticle in the center and 4-400w hanging one in each of the corners(2600w total) possibly adding a second 1000w in the center as they stretch. I may also make 1 or 2 of the 400w bulbs mh, for some diversity in the light spectrum. Room size 8x8 or 10x10 with killer ventilation and cooling. That will probably be my island setup, well maybe with one or two scattered outside also. Hawaii is a bitch about plant count. Tex |

hey tragic1,
i'm with tk on this one, but i've never done the coli so i cant comment on that. check out my 20 gal scrog trees. they were mothers that we decided to flower to free up space. it's not a traditional scrog in the sense that they weren't grown through the screen. they were too big. the frame is sc40 pvc 3' x 3' with a 9sqft grid. i then affixed chicken wire to the top and trained them dowm to the screen. i had to cut the chicken wire out of the middle of the grid so i could drop the plants through. the one most visible here is the silver haze, odyssey is right behind her Click for Larger Image heres a shot of the canopy of the odyssey Click for Larger Image silver haze canopy Click for Larger Image odyssey from below: (note that everything is growing through the center of the grid) Click for Larger Image

Beans,
I did about that sme thing to Mazar mother. I prunned the shit out of her taking clones. Then I flowered her and ended up with over 3 oz.. There were 23 or 24 major budsites on a level canopy under my 600w. The bush looked alot like yours Tex |

what was the size of your canopy? what about container size?
mine is about 3'3" x 3'3" so a little over 9 sq ft. i'm hoping for about 8 oz from her. odyssey is a nice heavy girl. also i harvest only the top, most mature buds and leave the rest to fatten up. i do this throughout the room. seems to help out with the overall quality in the end. it may be a little silly but i've taken to naming my big girls. odyssey is ophelia and silver haze is sylvia.

That particular Mazar shared a 3x3 area. It's total canopy was 18" square when it was all sayed and done. Even though it was a mother it was still only about 4 months old so it hadn't really gotten to the size of yours.
Selective harvest of the top buds is about the same as I do. I am also kickin in side lights down on the lower branches. Had 2-100w mh hangin verticle on the sides to kick it up a notch. My new space the flower space is going to be a little bigger so I may hang 250w mh in the corners with my 600w hortilux above in a horizontal fixture. Tex |

This is cool everyone with diffrent opinions. BG i'm not really sure about the coli. I have heard mix results about it. I'm leaning more towards your idea TK, I would like to keep plant numbers down. How long would you say veg would be for so few plants? Do you think 600w would be better then the 400w? By the way 8000w is what I can run without problem but not nessacarily what I will be running from day one.

600s are much better than 400s in many ways. i would only use a 400 if i absolutely had to (ie, SMALL closet grow where heat control would be a big issue)
even with that being said, i've used a 600 in a closet that was only 2' x 4'. of course it was air cooled using 465 cfm sqirrel cage blower. only ended up with 12 oz due to the small space but thats not too bad for 8 sq. ft. using the same lamp on the next grow in a 4x4 box i built i pulled 15 from 5 plants. sounds like you've got the room. might as well go with the 600. check out the thread titled: 2,500 watts used in rented house too much? in this forum for more info on lighting efficiency.

600HPS is alot better then the 400. I would go with it and not mess around with a 400. Like what was said before. Use a 400 for a small grow, not what your doing. Do like the other said, start out small and work your way up. I'll be watching when you fire up your grow. I like trees, but i have small spaces, that' why i'll be using a coli.
Good luck |

I might veg a clone for 4 to 6 weeks and 9-10 weeks from seed. Pruning and training the whole time. 24" or so when you throw into flower. Should finish around 4-5 feet tall.
How does the Coli really save room? I looked at SQ's demo thread and there are ballast, tanks, hoses, etc... all over the place outside the footprint of the actual coli. It looks to me you need at least double the footprint of the coli just to keep all the crap that goes along with it under control. It is sectional so I guess you could cut down the hieght a little but that's it. 600 over 400's for sure. about the same heat generated with either but alot more lumen output. Tex |

I can grow more plants with a Coli then on a Ebb&Flo. The newer units have more sites and are shorter. I will be running a feed to waste. You can grow more plants up and add more coli's. For what i run now with ebb&flo i can't even come close with a coli in the same space. I'll do a thread and show everything from start to finish with these new smaller units.
