KUBBY TV #67: Kubby Sells Med MJ Patent Rights for $1 Million
Monday, January 6 2014

Steve Kubby has just sold his medical marijuana patent that is pending for $1 million and has been hired to be CEO of Cannabis Sativa Inc.

Cannabis Sativa (CBDS) has signed an agreement to purchase the patent pending for what is being called af super potent medicinal cannabis strain. The agreement gives CBDS an option to purchase KUSH Inc., the owner of the patent pending, for an additional $1 million. Kubby owns KUSH.

The strain, called CTA, has been under review by the U.S. Patent Office since April 30, 2010.

"We are very pleased to announce our acquisition of what we believe will be the world's first patented cannabis plant," Cannabis Sativa President David Tobias said in a press release. "(Kubby) played a key role in raising the money to put Prop. 215, California's historic 1996 medical marijuana voter initiative, on the ballot. He is a pioneer and respected leader in the cannabis community and brings a wealth of experience and contacts to CBDS."

The KUSH management team, which includes cannabis expert Ed Rosenthal, former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson and former Sen. Mike Gravel, D-Alaska, is expected to join CBDS."

Very interesting, what does 'CTA' stand for, is it a strain name and did Kubby breed it???

Any truth in it being CTS from Fed? it's an Ecuador sat in the CTA isn't it?

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=277307

Anyone got a link to the patent?

Is this why the strain was only about for a short while? Kubby has def liked this varietal I think I remember in a interview he named it as his fav and that it had no ceiling it certainly fits the bill..

I would say yes for sure, as Kubby was in exile up here in BC, back when Emery was in his hay day. So he def had access to all of FED's line up, at that time...
here's a description; " our Celestial Temple Sativa from Equador, grows a bamboo like stock, with huge, thin, heavily serrated leaves. resin glands are unique, in that they have smaller, shorter heads, but are extremely dense, turning them frosty when ready. any true sativa fan will appreciate this !"

I am very curious how anyone can "patent" a cross, especially one that was (by the sounds of it) ripped off from somewhere else.

What exactly is it that is being patented, since a patent relates to a DEMONSTRABLY NEW way of doing something? I know the agri-biz sector is pretty corrupt, but a patent on an F1? Pur-leeze. He should count himself lucky if he can get a trademark for it.

But maybe he's just making a quick buck by treating the wannabe get-rich-quick crew to some smoke and mirrors, in which case, good luck to him...

Well, i looked it up, here:
https://www.uspto.gov/web/offices/pac/plant/#1

And as far as I can tell a patent only applies to a plant propagated asexually, i.e. for cannabis a clone, effectively.

So, basically, it seems these muppets are trying to patent a keeper plant of theirs! Good luck to them, and excuse those of us who think the whole thing is beyond laughable.... certainly neither terrifying nor motivating.

Fuckin' clowns.
