as far as the distinction, the only one is that one party sells seeds and the other doesn't. so no real difference in terms of they both have to be good at growing and have good genetics to have a chance.

what i like about having 12 cups, ie keeping seed sellers and growers separate, is that more people get honored with cups. due to the way we present the results it will be easy to see who did the best over all anyway.

if we get a decent showing again this year having 12 cups will not be too many. you will still get 10+ entries per category. i didnt think we even needed to discuss that aspect. in the end the only down side is that more people go home with a unique trophy for their entry. if the quality level is anything like last year, so many entries will deserve to win a cup.

G, yes, as I have said before, the line between Seed Co and Private is far too blurred, last year we saw Seed Co entries and the same people entering as privates... There are also people who work for Seed Co´s who wish to keep it private. One part you always hear the Private entrants are happy with is the unique opportunity to compete with Seed Co´s, it is the only Cup they can.

You are not really "honouring" anybody with a cup if pretty much everybody wins one.

Holla! Well last year I was all keep everyone together, but last years event went well.
Everyone seemed happy.
Also the clone thing I wasn't a fan of either but also seemed to work well.
Bho cat? well for sure its going to be well repped, always is. makes sense
the only prob is weither to put the non solvent/ solventless and the import hash in the same cats? last year all the imports where almost looked down on v powdered bubble/non solvent. Or put them all together and its just down to the hash makers to rise above..?
Cant wait for this years events!!!
Also some hotels are booked out already... need to jump on this one lads.

i wasn't planning to allow the crossing of categories this time. but i was thinking to keep the same amount of cups as last year. there again considering the GN situation it might well be a smaller event this year in terms of entries, in which case less cups would make sense.

but really the argument about people wanting to compete against the breeders isn't really valid, because they could still do that with the way it was last year. you just had to compare the scores.

as for the hash bash last year, i'm not sure i liked the results we got that way. seems to me people all agreed and ended up influencing those that might not have. im wondering if the pressed hash wasn't given a fair shake?

i think it might well be more objective to make normal hash judge packs again so people vote more independently on the hash. the hash bash it's self was awesome, just wonder what effect the system had on the results. thoughts?

I tend to agree about the hash testing, much prefer to do in own time..

But we could also still have a hash/dab smokeout as an event, in closed off area for a couple of hours is always good

yeah i did love the party aspect to the hash bash, from that point it was awesome. i just wonder if it was 100% fair that way?

i heard some rumors that bho won't be around much longer in coffee shops, so if we ever want to have a concentrates cup this year's probably best. maybe the bho could be judged like the hash bash was last year?

i'm thinking the hash can be divided into 0.25 samples making for 21 hash judge packs.

well i got my flight and flat booked and paid for, it is so on again, lmao....i should be harvesting just about 3 weeks before my trip so the bud won't be cured, not that it matters much with the cheese haze and afghan diesels that i have selected over the last year or so. they are tasty as fuck even right off the drying rack. just have to make sure it's fully dry. i can't wait to see what folks are smoking and entering this year.

So, what exactly are you proposing ? As ever, it is not clear. Last year you made different categories for people you cannot split apart. A lot of people here have done bits of "work" for Seed Co, many like to keep private about it. Then you allow Seed companies to enter as Privates as well ? WTF ?

The argument is valid, almost everyone wants to compete openly against everybody else, likewise most do not want the competition reduced to a Turkey shoot where everybody gets to win a prize, it means more if they mean something. Likewise, everybody wants to see an open fair competition with zero moaning about dodgienss. This means the voting, not stacking the competition with buddies and having hte votes published.

The IC420 is run for and by the people of the site, it is not run for the benifit of the "Vendors" ... it is exactly that kind of compromised integrity that has made the HTCC etc a joke, everybody I speak to on here wants to run a proper cup that means something. There is no excuse for failure in this aspect.
