It is not the prices or supply that will end the black market or that the LP's have the market all wrapped up... it'll be the revised laws and increased jail time from the Federal Government that will end it.

Right now If you're busted growing or selling Weed, the likelihood of going to jail at all is very slim, most likely you'll just get a fine and away you go growing again.
But if the government changes the laws and sends there musle(RCMP) after growers and dealer to shut them down and if need be, incarcerate them, most people in the bootleg Weed business will just stop voluntarily.
If a grower is going to get 10 years for production or trafficking weed, in most people's minds growing or selling won't be worth the $100-$150 an oz payment.

If you don't believe the government will imploy such tactics once Weed prohibition ends and they control the sale and distribution of it... just do a little research into what happened after Alcohol prohibition ended back in 1930.
The government doesn't like competition, they are the only ones legally allowed to have a monopoly and the LP's will have paid huge licensing fees and will demand protection.
The only reason this hasn't happened in the US of A, is that they haven't legalized at the federal level... once they do the bootleg/black market will end their as well, using the same tactics.

There isn't a huge Moonshine industry in either Canada or the United States and there are probably more drinkers today then there ever was in the prohibition days...Why do you think that is?

The black market will survive as long as weed can sell for $500/lb. Less even. And with a better selection that a store to boot. In any case, hash and derivatives are always options but many growers aren't willing to go the extra mile to process it even further.

Growing is a pain in the ass most times. Add the fact that your summer and fall are shot babysitting, and you've got a real barrier to entry. If you do it indoors, you can't even run to another city for a weekend in case shit goes sideways. And it always does.

I don't think sentences will increase, or that the government is going to start cracking down on the black market. That didn't work, hence they are legalizing, regulating, taxing it. at 1K per pound, there are many growers who have and will quit. Investigating growers to bust will be a lot harder, since your car or house smelling like weed isn't probable cause allowing a search. Same with anything that used to be incriminating - going to hydro store, online orders and credit card purchases, your google search history, or icmag account, instagram pics, or shared pics with the meta data attached, and small amounts up to an oz on you. all these won't mean jack shit for cops soon. Busting people, esp, small mom and pop operations doesn't pay, its an expense.

Either way once it goes to 500-1000 even more will drop out of the game. I think thats the strategy, and its clearly already working and its not even legalized yet!

I think 3-4 years for commercial to get their shit together, then the convenience and selection will be like the beer store and kill the underground. Unless the government starts taxing the shit out of it.

But making a good black hash is a process and a half and it'll be hard to duplicate mechanically. It's hard enough to do manually.

well, legit commercial has already had what three years? It doesn't seem like it is them getting their shit together (atleast for the most part) its more like them being handicapped by asinine regulations.

everything in the LP market is rather Samey...and that is what the legit rec market is going to be based off for the first few years.

I'd love to be able to get hash from Lp's but on the same hand I don't think i'd want what they come up with.

I can't wait for the craft boom, i can just see people getting sick of the bunk available everywhere and grow for themselves. We can brew our own beer ferment our own wine and grow our own tobacco. its only a matter of time before that gets relaxed.

Buddha hate to be against you but as someone who is from poverty, I can assure you people won't care about increased jail time. it's the old if you scared go to church mentality. ppl have been doing this heroin cocaine marijuana I doubt you will get more time for marijuana then heron. Ppl selling weed in these streets haven't been scared before and guess what? once the CICC shuts all the dispensaries down most the growers who grow the better shit for dispensaries will be sending it to the black market. The only people shaking now are the guys that went and bought huge spaces to grow in and left their 9-5 jobs to "do it big" who were planning on rinsing their shit through the dispensary and don't know the mans that rinse pounds in the street on a level where hey aren't scared of getting robbed by them. if they know them at all that is. these same scared people never been to jail or seen the bars before or did anything illegal before they started taking advantage of the medical program.

people growing exos are still getting 2200-2600 a unit at 10-5 units. at least in Ontario. if people are charging less then they need to change the strains they are growing.
Plus if the OCS is closed who you gonna call? gonna just say "ah well guess I ain't gonna get high with this chick/dude tonight no pu$$y for me" what about concentrates? when u go to pick up your concentrates from the hustlers your not gonna just grab some bud as well? you gonna make two stops and show up late for your date? what about when the sexy girl wants to smoke black cherry pie and all you got is the "Boardwalk stroll" or the "Clearwater" or whatever else these places be naming their shit? sure lots of people will go to OCS but the black market is going no where.
