Arrow K-9's On Patrol

Recently I've learned how easy it is to go between London and Amsterdam by train, through the Channel Tunnel on Eurostar. Eurostar runs many times throughout the day between London (Waterloo Station) and Brussels (Midi) Station. Once in Brussels it's an easy platform change to catch the train to Amsterdam Central Station (trains run every 45 min). The entire trip is about 6 hours, with 3 of the hours on Eurostar.

Yesterday in Brussels, while waiting on the platform to catch the train to Amsterdam, these guys show up Feeling suddenly quite paranoid, I grabbed the camera...trying to hide my nervousness and got a few pics as I commented to one of them how 'cute' the dogs are:p Here's what I got....LOL...I can't believe the pics came out as in focus as they did because my hands were trembling at the thought of one of these bad boys getting too close to my luggage. But, seems they weren't as interested in me as I was in them

I'll be headed back to the UK in a couple weeks...maybe I take some pics of the journey back?

Close call there DG. Glad everything worked out and the dog didn't go crazy on you. Are those dogs trained for smelling out drugs and explosives? I also notice your post number hit the bad number. Good luck on your next trip and i hope you don't run into your new friend.

I would take the train too, why put on the miles when there is no need? I have a car and ride the train all the time.

Man, those are some scary pics, thanks for posting them. Would be a bad thing if you crotched your stash and he didn't have that muzzle on and caught a wiff

is it possible they were explosive sniffing dogs and not trained for drugs?

Those are the donut dogs. I've seen how they work. Rather than employ a tea lady customs have employed 'runner dogs' who understand simple commands like "Coffee, white, one" and Bacon Sandwich, Red Sauce, No rind". The only interest they have in drugs is when you get a few round by the baggage handling areas getting a few tokes in while their masters wait for their orders.

How do you think they know the smell of Plastique? Almond Croissants mate, thats how!

They are also thinking of adding handlebars to make them look like guide dogs. No helping the blind as they are after all customs dogs so these will be trained to lead the blind to the entrance again and leave them there chuckling.

Now that's a funny one Vapour!

Nate: The way they were handling the dogs I'd venture to say they were for drugs...maybe explosive too, who knows really, that's something I didn't ask them....lol :p

AmericanEscobar: For ticket prices on Eurostar check at https://www.eurostar.co.uk

Man let me tell you guys....I was really nervous. It's funny now, but at the moment it sure wasn't.
