Or
You could get a new wave t5 and use it for both. Like TBWGB says keep the cuttings out of the direct light till they root.
I have both the 2'- 4 bulb t5 fixture and a 250 MH Hortilux blue. If you have room for 2 of the t5's that would be even better for veg IMHO. Unless you get a 250 with a remote ballast like a lumatek. However, if your gonna flower with a 600 hps and can afford to buy and vent a 400 watter in your veg then you should step up to a 400 watter for veg. I sort of regret buying the 250 with the cheap built in magnetic ballast. That P.O.S. ballast makes more heat than the bulb. Heck it probably makes more heat than my 400 wat HPS hortilux. If I did it again I would get the 600 HPS with lumatek digital balast and a 400 MH/lumatek ,but thats just me and the 250 MH light/ballast combo does the job and it was 'cheap' You could always go with a cheap 40 watt floro for cuttings OR shade the cuttings at some distance under the 400. Sure it would cost more on the monthly bill but not to much IMO. Bottom line IMHO is more lumens and PAR=more vegative production (all things being equal) Anyway good luck and good choice with the 600 HPS for flower...wish I would have done that. CF |

the less light the better use T12 flouro tubes or cfl lighting for cloning. t5s are still nice and bright and should be easily over a ft away. a 250 hps would probably be better for supplemental lighting in veg or flower instead of cloninng if you're going to use it though easily 2-3 ft away if not more.
