Midas

Wanted to start a thread to share my pics of Midas as it grows. Right now is is on flower day 2. Popped 5, culled 2 males and 1 I did not like the growth structure of before they even showed (space constraints). Selected one female for this run. The goal is to find a replacement for my SLH cut which I am getting bored with. Looking for a similar sativa high with a nice yield.

Here are 3 vegging. This was just after I started documenting my projects again.

And here is the pretty lady at day 1 of flower:

This grow is a 3x3 vertical scrog with a 600w light. Coco, smart pots, DTW. I have not captured many Midas specific pics yet but I will be as flowering continues and will do my best to get them up here.

One thing I have noticed so far is that she is a pretty heavy feeder. I have upped my feeding to 1.7EC from my usual 1.5EC and have already seen a definite improvement in coloration of the leaves.

edit:

I just wanted to add that overall I am a rather inexperienced grower and I hope I can do this strain justice. I was hesitant to post here at all but there is so little documentation on this strain I figured it could not hurt regardless of my personal success or otherwise. I do recognize that this strain and Albert Walker itself are not known to be the easiest strains to grow. Just gonna do my best.

Update. Day 44 flower. Really like the bud formation I am seeing. Looks very hazy and definitely the most sativa characteristics in any plant I've grown. Little disappointed with the calyx/leaf ratio though. Going to be a lot to trim.

I'll have some more shots in a few days. Was hoping to get a real camera before chop but that didn't pan out. Letting these go until the end of the week, maybe a touch longer. I started flushing a little too early I think but am trying to hold out till 70 days at least.

I was too busy and forgot to take pics before chop. Here are some from while I was trimming. Overall the plant came out fantastic. Looks like it has the yield and the buds came out very nice, if a little airy. I did a lot wrong on this run and I am hoping to get her back into flower in the next month or so.

Things I would do better:
- no light burn/heat stress
- don't flush as early (if at all)
- take her to 80 days

70 days did not quite cut it but I was on a tough schedule. I also started flushing a little too early and so probably lost some weight at the end. That along with the heat stress might account for the fluffier buds.

As far as training/trimming. This plant did amazing topped and was perfect for my vert scrog. The only other thing I would do is remove more growth from the bottoms of lateral branches. I think this would be a good way to divert more energy to the tops.

I'll revive this thread the next time I run her, hopefully with improved results.

Tell us how the flavor and function is, I was bummed out I couldn't pick up Midas and Cougar's Piss at the Seattle Cannabis Cup but REALLY psyched still to this day the man was kind enough to give me a double bakers dozen of Albert Packer for FREE because they didn't have the genetics I wanted.. I did about 5 they're in early veg at the moment, one has a really diesel smelling terpene profile already.

Dry weight ended up at 112 grams. LOVE this stuff after some time in the jar. Very unique. By far the most sativa/hazey plant I have grown and seen in this area. Sativa's are not big around here and I thought people would be put-off by it as well as the fact that it does not have that tight rock-hard bud look (kind of airy/leafy). People can't get enough though.

RD aroma description is pretty dead on. Lemon mixed with a spicey/hazey/garlicy taste I can't put my finger on. Super Lemon Haze is much sweeter lemon (lemon cotton candy), this is more astringent like Pledge (cleaning stuff). I think there are some of those catpiss terpenes kicking around in there as well.

This stuff is all in the head and makes me very active. Perfect for working in my grow room or going out for a drink. If I try to chill on the couch though I just keep thinking of shit I need or could be doing. Not great for TV/Movies as I catch myself zoning out and thinking about all kinds of other shit not paying attention.

Just put 2 more of these (cuts from the same original seed) into flower. I'd like to see how she looks after 85 days. I forget exactly when I pulled this one but I think around 70.

I'll definitely be checking out RD again next time I need some seeds. It's a shame so many people are all about the OG crosses and miss out on some of their really unique stuff.
