I am starting a pack of 501st og i am going to pop all 10 seeds, i want to f2 this strain as well as make a cross with some canabiogen gear, i have taskenti, pck, to work with. should i use a 501 male or 501 female in this cross, keep in mind i will be starting a few seeds of each cbg strain to look for suitable partners, i would like to hear a little advice on how to aproach this project. I have some experiance making seeds for myself and familly but nothing really to speak of. i am really serious about finding a nice cross to work a little further and i know there is some real talent roaming this sub-forum, thanks for the kind words

any thoughts on a hybrid cross = rd 501 x cbg ??

you should cross anything you can get your hands on with 501st..

and anything else by cannabiogen or RD.. both are great breeders, class genetics..

I think as a general rule pic a smelly, short and not very lignified male.. the mother will impart the strongest traits so think about what you want from the mother and the father in the cross and whether you want to backcross towards the parents or towards a more indica/sativa line with the progeny.. imo the father will add structure(ie node spacing, height branching etc) more dominantly than any other traits..

there are a thousand ways you can go but it would depend on what end product you would like..

thank you i am going to do some thinking, i had a little trouble with germination rates on the 501st. i will have to see how the 3 i got to pop turn out, i guess thats how the dice roll, i will get another pack if i dont find something nice, or i'll make some f2's and explore the progeny

What ever way you go, you could call the cross hobbyrd , which I like the sound of.

hobbyrd was a typo to start out but it does sound funny the way it rolls off of your tounge,, sounds like it should be in the redneck dictionary or something, "" man is dat plant sum kin of hobrid or summtin"
