DSa - notice the very purple top of the main cola. Only the very top of this plant colored like this. The leaves coming off of the main cola are also longer and thinner than any of the other leaves on any of the three. I noticed early on that on bud at the top of a side branch was wide and flat. When cutting the plant i discovered that the lower part of that branch was triploid (I think that is the correct term here). Berry smells.
DSb - found a few male flowers poking out on day 56. Almost no purpling. Also very little aroma. DSc - Lovely bluish lavender tint to the buds, berry smells. |

I have grown DS out twice from clones now. Deep Satellite appears to have some fantastic genetics locked away in there. These plants grow stout and fairly short, with dense buds and a reluctance to spread their branches. All together this means one must maintain a low RH and have excellent air circulation to avoid botrytis. Give them plenty of room for their roots, never lag on transplanting them. They have responded beautifully to larger containers and a richer mix.

In the previous post, the three top images are of DSa, the lower two are DSc. After getting to know the two when dried and cured, they are more similar than they appear in terms of flavor and feel. DSa colors up only where it receives strong light, and the buds and leaves below the canopy are green. DSc, however has bluish-lavendar tint throughout the bud. At this point I am leaning toward DSc as the keeper, even though it yields a bit less and is less dramatic looking at harvest, i think it is the better smoke.

Here are a few photos of the most recent two DS
The top photos show a DS pinched once, the lower one was FIMmed. |
