The Brigand of قندهار‎

This is a test grow for Delta-9 of 9 seeds of Afghani Kandahar Landrace x Super Star. Thanks alot to Clarence and Ed!

These nine seeds reached my anxious hands on August 1st, and were popped in the lucky shot glass. I put two drops of H2O2 per SooperSmurph's germing procedure.

All of the beans looked fantastic. One was larger than the others. Magnificent striping and beautiful under the loupe.

Now for a little background, National Geographic style, lifted from Google and Wikipedia.

Quote:
Kandahar, known in older literature as Candahar, is the second largest city in Afghanistan, with a population of about 491,500 as of 2012...located in the south of the country at an altitude of 1,010 m above sea level.
Kandahar is one of the most culturally significant cities of the Pashtuns and has been their traditional seat of power for more than 200 years. It is a major trading center for sheep, wool, cotton, silk, felt, food grains, fresh and dried fruit, and tobacco. The region produces fine fruits, especially pomegranates and grapes, and the city has plants for canning, drying, and packing fruit.
The region around Kandahar is one of the oldest known human settlements. Alexander the Great had laid-out the foundation of what is now Old Kandahar in the 4th century BC...Many empires have long fought over the city due to its strategic location along the trade routes of southern, central and western Asia.

That looks like a nice place to grow some weed...

So let's take a look at Super Star. From Delta-9:

Quote:
* Strain type: Indica 70% Sativa 30%
* Buzz: Uplifting, creatively clear headed
* Taste/Smell: Sweet, super pungent/ combo of lilacs and lemons.
* Flowering time: 8-8.5 weeks
* Parents: Sensi Star(female) (50%) Sensi Star (male) (50%)
* Yield: 300-500 g/m2 (1-1 2/3 oz./ft. 2)
* Environment: Indoor

Super Star is a double back cross of the legendary Sensi Star utilizing two breeding Sensi Star males. She gets her name from the amount of crystals she produces as well as the enlightening high which brings you the feeling of being a Super Star. The high is very clear and creatively inspiring.

This strain is mostly indica with the uplifting properties of a typical sativa. Paradise Seeds Sensi Star, winner of Highlife and High Times awards in 1999 and 2000; has been back crossed by Delta-9 Labs with the main characteristics being chosen towards the sativa male phenotypes from the labs. Conventional wisdom says that sativas give smokers a head high in contrast to the indica body high. Super Star successfully joins the original Sensi Star with 2 powerfully selected males to produce a buzz that both stimulates the receptors and opens the chakras.

Recommended for indoor gardens or warm climates this variety's flowers may begin to reach maturity at around seven weeks but the average time is closer to 8 weeks. Super Star forms many individual main stem branches that grow very tall and sprout long thick leaves. The internodes or branching points seem unusually far apart at first, but they fill in fast as the growing cycle progresses giving very tight small dense buds.

This sweet tasting variety delivers an uplifting mixture of mind and body buzz that can be energizing and profoundly clear headed. The Super Star high comes on fast and strong, so some pacing may be advisable. As long as it isn't overdone, the result should be a creatively progressive day which could be harnessed to complete major projects or to enjoy with friends for a night out on the town.

And some background on Sensi Star, courtesy seed finder

Quote:
Paradise Seeds - Sensi Star

Sensi Star is a great indoor plant, producing powerful, resinous, and very compact buds. Although mostly indica, she retains a complex high that warps both body and soul. Introduced in 1995 by Paradise, this strains stability was improved in 1997 to deliver a strong plant with big fan leaves and nice thick buds.

This headstrong indica produces rock hard colas that have a lemony scent and taste. Some smokers find the buzz to be a very strong body stone, while others report a high with more energetic cerebral properties as well as a body sensation.

THC levels have been reported at 20 percent for this variety, making it a one-hitter quitter. CBD has been measured at .9 percent.

I put the 9 beans into soil after a 48 hour soak. Three had started to open up a bit. I put them in a closed container.

There's a good video of Ed at the TY 2013 Expo https://youtu.be/j6u-WaTov3A

Well it seems my excitement was a bit premature. I've got four hardy seedlings of the nine. One may pull through, two grew stems but leaves didn't form, and two more are still languishing beneath the soil. Pics to come!

Okay Yesca, cool. I wouldn't throw 'em out until they're beyond dead! Thanks for advice!
