Satori Trifoliate Question
Okay, I guess the first question is whether this 3-day-old Satori seedling is what is called a trifoliate.
The second question is whether this "condition" is anything bad at all, or is it just a normal variation that could grow into a perfectly healthy, happy plant. I really don't know, and an ICMag search didn't turn up much information that I could use. Any info on this little darling would be helpful. I have eight Satori seedlings about three days out of the soil, with an eight for eight germination success rate using Mandala's suggested germination techniques. |

Yup, that's a trifoliate. Had a Sadhu do the same thing. The growth pattern was nice but I pulled it tho as it didn't keep up with the others on the table at the time. Pretty cool to see tho.
Check out this buds location. Had only seen it online before but this is the first one to ever do it for me. It's on the Satori #1 girl I have going now. Not hurting the plant abit. Mike said this comes from the landrace side of the genetics used if I'm recalling correctly.

I think I had it also..This plant never really amounted to much, so I pulled it. Glad I did now, as I'm seriously struggling, even with just 4 in there!

Hi Angel Eyes,
This is indeed a triploid plant (or trifoliate). It looks healthy and can grow quite normally, but I generally recommend to remove them because in some cases yield is inferior to the regular diploids/2-leafed plants. Triploids occur seldom and are part of recessive genetic traits in cannabis. Quote:
Have a good start to the week, Mike

Yes, I will start a grow diary, because I think ICMag is a great knowledge base, and the more knowledge added the better!
One more unrelated question, Mike, if I may... Since my cabinet is already under a 12/12 light regime, I started my Satoris under 12/12 from seed. They seem to be developing almost as strongly and quickly as my previous 18/6 run. My question is this: if the Satori will usually finish in 65-70 days of flowering, how will starting with 12/12 from seed affect the overall timeline? Will the 65-70 days begin at first sign of budding? Will it begin from day one of the seedling's life? Just wondering what you think I might expect from this run in terms of time to finish. The reason I'm interested in the timing is because I have this idea of a perpetual mini-sog, where I have three plants running, each approximately 30 days apart, so that each month I harvest one mini-sogged plant grown from 12/12. I realize the yields will be smaller than if I had used a veg period, but I think that having three plants at different stages of growth in a perpetual scenario will help keep things interesting for me. Thanks, Mike. |

Igot something which is very rare for me Mike,- I got 100% germination and then followed with 100% succesful sproutong above ground-doesnt happen to me often So bigup urself for the great beans. The triploids come up less than 0,5% in the population...so for every 200+ seeds you might get one. Someone recently harvested a triploid and got a great yield and quality buds, so they can be just as good as any regular plant. As breeders we are less lenient. Anything that looks less than perfect meets a timely death. *lol* I guess it's a useful habit from our strict selection requirements in breeding. Quote:
