I read all that, but, is there a question in there?
To make this easy use the bullets to mark questions like

The ducks foot male will make a parents with some having the looks of the DF and high of the other or yeild. There are so many variations. Out of the first cross there will be like 20% DF to planst that are up to 80% like the mother, a wide range, You'll see more of the far end DF or Mother plants at first. The 50/50 pheno will be hard to find.
the thing he gotta watch is not to pic hermies. Males and females need to be flowered out totally. To tell the truth... Your lookin at 1 to 2 years. Depending How many back crosses he could do at once. Like selecting dominate parent plants for each strains far side of the offspring during the same run. U could make it into 4 grows at 3 to 4 months each cycle. So I'd say at least a year to make a solid cross. NOTE: I just got up so some of this might not make sence. I tryed my best. Ill look it over in the mornin.

The 50/50 pheno will be hard to find.
Edit - If by 50/50 pheno you mean the recombination of wr plants with webbed leaf then yes they will few perhaps only a few in every 100 of the F2s. I see no reason for a backcross as a bx to either parent would break up the recombination you are wanting, the F2s hold the key. Since each parent passes 50% of its genes to the offspring, 50% from the male and 50% from the female. All of the F1s will be 50/50. If what you want is to have wr plants with the webbed leaf , it could be done in a few steps. 1 - make your wr df cross, can we for simplicity call this our F1. 2 - inbreed the F1s to make your F2s. I the F2 generation all possible combinations will be seen provided you grow out enough to find them. 3 - Grow out a number of F2s its in the F2s you will find the recombinations you seek. WR plants with webbed leaf. How many F2s will you need to grow should be the real question, that will depend on gene linkage. With gene linkage independent assortment is restricted further and may require a very large number of F2s to be grown out. For a nice book on genetics Genetics - From Genes to Genomes - Hartwell, Hood, Goldberg, Reynolds, Silver, Veres. 2nd Edition. 2004, McGraw Hill ISBN: 0072462485 Last edited by Daytripper; 04-16-2006 at 10:47 PM.. |

Man I'm glad someone like you created this instrument of instruction, glasspacker. This really helps bro! I can see alittle clearer on JLP's F2 projects now.
