Won this on an online auction last week. Came today. 1895 Chilean Mauser Carbine. Excellent condition. I like it a lot more than my Argentine Mauser.

Here is a size comparison. Chilean on the top, Argy on the bottom.

What caliber are those? Those original Mauser actions make for great sporting rifles if their value isn't too high to mess with the weapon.

Thanks. Yes the bolt is original but the numbers don't match.

The Argentine ammo is single stacked, that's why it has a magazine, although it doesn't come off like a modern firearm. The Chilean is double stacked.

I still have a lot to learn about these old rifles. I'm thinking about buying the book "Mausers Of The World". I hear it is as thick as a phone book.

Here is a nice comparison video of the two if your interested.

The Chilean is 7mm Mauser (7x57)

The Argentine is 7.65 Argentine (7.65x53)

The ammo is expensive, like 15-17 a box. People who reload their own ammo say you can modify the 30-06 case so I might look into reloading even though I don't plan on shooting them often.

Yes, there are many nice sporterized Mausers out there. My personal preference is too keep them original though.

Centerfire. A few companies still make the Argentine ammo. The 7mm is still widely used today.

I gotta admit, theres just something more satisfying about a bolt action rifle compared to a semi-auto.im sure you know what i mean.just cant find the words for it at the moment.

Is it just me or was the guy in the video a little rough with the guns?seems he could have been a little nicer if there really over 100 years old.
