The idea is to keep it moist but if you keep your container loosely covered then it should retain enough moisture to keep the composting process active with only the initial wetting.
Overwatering your mix can encourage anaerobic bacteria to take hold, we want aerobic which is why we turn the mix every 4-6 days, to aerate.

I usually mix up my soil when I start my seedlings. This way betime they are ready for transplant the soil has been sitting for a few weeks. I usually mix it up alittle every few days.
