Pasicf island strains

I asked a similar question over at OG but got no response.

What strains are grown through out the pacific, Other than Hawaiian strain?

Why have we not heard of any strains from the south pacific other than hawaiian strains?

This is a part of the world that has an Ideal cannabis growing climate, yet I've heard almost nothing.

when i lived in Hawai'i, a friend of mine from Guam told me that the majority of weed in Guam comes from the island of Palau.
I'm sure Guam could grow some great weed in their own right, but the vast majority of commercial weed comes from Palau. He told me that it is very potent.
Other than that I know nothing about the makeup and strains grown in places like Tahiti, Samoa, Vatanu, Fiji, Marshall islands etc.

is it that cannabis is not tradionally the drug of choose, (as apposed to bettle nut and kava kava) why we don't hear much about marijuana from these parts?

If anyone has any info on this topic, or is from any of these places I would love to know.

peace

I heard about Pakalolo strains grown in Tahiti island. Here also, there are several sub-lines, and it's hard to distinguish between what was brought by human and what was naturally here.

There is also the famous Papuasia New Guinea gold which is supposed to be a killer one. Maybe this one should not be considered as Pacific strains strictly? I should launch it one day or another to produce new seeds. I have no informations on it, only it has good reputation although it hermies when grown with too high temperature.

Sorry, hope that helps

Good vibes

Hello,

For example in the case of Tahiti, the pakalolo has really explosed as a drug only recently in the 70's. And during these years, there have been a big amount of foreign genetics that have been added to the gene pool....
The pakalolo there has been subdivided in various strains as the "patte de canard" and so on...

It' a very special smoke with an interesting taste recognizable from far apart. But as the drying methods are really different from what we are used to it's hard to know if it's strain-specific or due to the intense heat (drying occur in iron fare exposed to the sun )

Cheers

Around Micronesia, there seems to be plenty of regard for Palauan grown weed, but not much regard for the genetics from which it came. I happen to work with several Palauans, but am not really in the position to "shoot the shit" about weed at the moment. That being said, all of the "unknown homegrown" I've seen has been sativa. But generally not grown/harvested correctly. I do have some Hawaiian about 2 weeks into veg right now, along with Skunk and some kush(because with 12/12 year round, I'd love some little buds-on-a-stick). I wouldn't mind trying to acquire some Palauan or Rotanese seeds(not sure if they'd be landraces, though..) to try & check out.
Given a heavy population of American, Spanish, and Japanese in the area in the last 60 years or so, I imagine that some seeds would have come from these places, but I'm not sure how acclamated they'd be to this geographic location by now.

Edit: I take some of that back..Palau and many of the other islands were indeed occupied by the Spanish over 100 years ago(but Japanese & American in the last 60 or so years, and (Palau)more than likely settled originally by people from Indonesia(explaining their distinct dark skin pigment.)

It's grown onn many islandss of French polynesia were Pakalolo was brought about 30 years ago by Hawaïan growers. One of the largest producing areas used to be the Marquise Archipelago (late 90s), but it has spread to many others since.
Fiji and Tonga as well have a rising production.
