Preflowers and parent plants?

I am trying to pick out parent plants here in Colorado which has a shorter growing season outdoors. If I pick parents that show the earliest preflowers this year would the resulting seeds produce plants that have earlier regular flowering next year? Thanks

I'm no expert but i think the ones that show flowers first, those are going to flower first and finish first.

Some plants show pre-flowers earlier than others, but your issue is over-all flowering time. Appearance of pre-flowers have no bearing on how long the plant takes to complete the flower cycle. As mentioned above, the actual appearance of flowers indicate when flowering starts, thus indicating when they finish. Even then, it's only a rough estimate since they are done, when they are done.

agree with dan. preflowers are no real indicator of flowering time.

Preflowering stage, is the period when the plant is in the vegetative stage, but it is mature enough, to show sex. then, the pre-flowers depend on the stage of maturation of the plant, which varies depending on the conditions/setup and by genetics.

your strain, in bad shape this year will show pre-flowers in June ... the same strain, next year, in excellent condition, will show pre-flowers in may
