400w 2liter Closet SOG Nirvana's Snow White

Hiya folks, time to kick off a grow thread! I miss sharing my grow with everyone, which I used to do on OG. I miss having newbies be inspired by what other newbies could and were doing. To show new growers that it is possible, it is not out of reach, if I can grow, you too can grow.

We are all on this fine website because another man was thinking the same thing. He was thinking about how he could go about getting as many people as he could to grow their OWN. It's why he hands out a free pack of seeds along with every order no matter how small a purchase. Gypsy Nirvana, thank you. But I must give thanks to OG, its moderators, and its member base. Something I never thought about while it was up, something I took for granted. For without which I would have never even thought of growing MY OWN, and be inspired by other newbies that were growing THEIR OWN.

So, lets get growing!!

My closet grow consists of a 400w HPS light, enclosed in an air-cooled hood, with a glass shield. I run a 265cfm Dayton squirell cage blower, which draws in air from the top left corner of the closet, and blows through the hood and out my custom made door. Its been suggested that I try to pull air through the hood instead of blow. Thats something I may try in the future. All the AC vents in the house are closed minus the bedroom one, which keeps temps where I like them, 77-82. If it goes above 82 the AC will kick on until it gets back down to about 79, rinse and repeat.

We have 17 clones going right now in 2 liter bottles with black plastic taped around them, with room for about another 14-15. 10 days to root, then I placed them in small cups and vegged them for 8 days. At 8days I transplanted to the 2liter's and let them veg 1 more day, then into the flower chamber. I am not sure at this time if I will fire up the bubble cloner for more clones. At the start of March, I germed some new seeds that I got from purchasing about 1/2oz of "Afghani x Haze #12" meds from a local Socal dispensary. The meds were down right great, heavy hitting Indica with awesome pain releif, and I was ecstatic about getting 12 seeds in the 1/2. So I dont know if I'll have the room to fill the rest of the sog to capacity and still have room to flower out those.

Here's my lineup of products I use.

Fox Farms Ocean Forest dirt 2 parts to 1 part Perlite
.. Grow Big
.. Big Bloom
.. Tiger Bloom
Botanicare Liquid Karma
.. Cal-Mag Plus

Here they are on Mar 28th. They were pulled from the bubbler cloner and placed in dirt cups between Mar 20th-22nd

Here are the SOGlings 8 days later, with enough room for more!

Thats about it for now. I welcome any, and all questions, comments, suggestions, and flames with open arms. And thanks for stopping by.

Exactley what I want to see

This is awesome, hopefully you will see this thorugh to the end with lots of pictures and documentation (please do a final weigh up after proper trim and cure).

I wish you the best of luck and hope your results are better then what I am expecting. ICMag is picking up right where OG has left us.

Could you do me a favour and measure the diameter of the 2 litre bottles? I need to do a little design work on a future cabinet that will be specifically made for those containers.

You can be sure that I will see this through to the end. Final dry wieghts are a must of course. It will be interesting to see what this method can do, especially with my relatively new green thumb

As for the measurements, the Diameter of the bottle is 13", they are 4 1/4" wide, and about 5 1/2" tall where I cut them.

Looking good, sir. I'd like to tag along and watch this grow.
Do you use the fluoros for supplemental lighting or is that strictly to get them going? Are those some of the new type fluoros?
Grow big

Reverend Willis, The floro's are nothing more than 3x 4 footer T12/T8 ballast, held together with some liquid nail and 2x4's. When I first started growing, I used these as my main light for vegging. Then I came upon a great deal for my 400w hps & dayton blower (100$). So now I just use those as supplemental side lighting like you stated. Thanks for checking in!

Jnugg, the closet is 6' wide x 2.75' of usable depth and almost 6' of usable height. Here's a picture to get a good idea.

JayRoach420, Heya man, I think I remember you from OG. Yes this is my first go with SOG. One mistake I made right off the bat, was not pulling all the clones from the bubbler at once. Instead when I felt they had an appropriate root formed, I pulled them individually and put them in dirt. This caused the earlier ones to slightly outgrow the ones pulled the following 2 days. I was under the impression that you had to pull the clones when the root wasnt too too long. But from what I've seen here on ICmag, it looks like guys let their roots get really long, with no ill effect. So next time they all get pulled at once. Thanks for the compliments!
