Hydro cleaning products that you can buy from bunnings
G'Day,
![]() What cleaning products do you use for your hydroponics? How often do you clean your utensils/measuring cups/buckets etc? Can you source your cleaning product from Bunnings? How do you clean your equiptment? I grow hydroponically and I'll admit that I don't clean my equipment. I think this has given me a few headaches this current grow. Two things .. 1 - I read bleach leaves a toxic residue (previously i was using it) 2 - I read elsewhere that isopropyl alcohol is excellent, but I have no idea where to buy it!! K++ for any input!!!!

Did a quick google search, you can buy isopropyl alcohol from bunnings ...
https://www.bunnings.com.au/products_..._P1564443.aspx Has anyone used this? Is it safe? i.e. doesn't contain some additive to prevent people drinking/sniffing it which makes it not safe to use to clean your hydro system? Sorry if this seems like a lame topic, I figure if I'm going to actually do any cleaning I may as well do it correctly!

Best place I have found for iso is electronics places, like Altronics.
They sell it by 2ltr bottles and its pretty good quality. Very pure. Its an expensive way to clean though. Surely warm soapy water would suffice for things like measuring cups etc. Hell, I am a pretty lazy gardener and I don't even do that. My cups have all sorts of salts crusted in the bottom. Doesn't seem to effect mine in a noticeably negative way. There is also a school of thought about using bleach regularly in your hydro solution as a substitute to hydrogen peroxide. I tried it for one run and still had excelent results. Again, no negative effect. I even stuffed up and used a lemon scented bleach haha. I thought I really fucked it but nope, nice fat juicy buds like normal. That pool shock product sounds like it might be a chlorine. I have wondered about this too, there is a product for cleaning babies bottles called miltons. I've considered experimenting with that.
