Ok so this morning Im leaving my apartment making my way down a flight of stairs when I notice a large amount of dark liquid flowing out the bottom of the front door from the apartment below mine. This seemed odd to me because untill then I wasn't aware of anyone living there. At first I thought maybe it was an overflowing toilet which made me glad I lived above them. So I do what every good tenant does and called management to report it and try and salvage this persons belongings before the water could do any more damage. So I leave for work with a feeling that I could have saved someone's apartment from total destruction.

This is where it gets sureal. I come home several hours later for lunch. I park my car and walk up to my apartment building. When I see something that looks like its straight out of a COPS episode. About 50 MJ plants, all different stages of growth laying on the ground still in net pots. Trays of clones, GH nutrients, buckets of hydroton where scattered through the breezeway. There were four light reflectors on the ground with the cooling glass shattered and pieces of tubing still connected. But NO cops.

I was in shock. I could not believe what I was seeing. My heart was beating so hard in my chest I could hear it in my ears. I raced up the stairs and stood by my front door listening to what was happening down stairs. Several apartment workers where talking in spanish carrying on about what I have no idea. I came inside and started typing this.

I am pretty sure that someone's aero system overflowed, because of the net pots and and sizes and stages of the plants. Although I can't say that I actually saw any system components or the inside of the apartment.

This is still happening and I am guessing the cops are on their way. I will post more as it unfolds.

Sounds like the building caretaker/owner was getting some use from the empty suite!

I don't think the cops are coming... sounds more like a tear down and scatter to me, but out in public like that???

I want to see how this plays out...

Just kiddin'.

There are several reasons NOT to grow in a rented residence unless there are certain conditions present.

And several more NOT to have an automated system in a residence unless there is sufficient planning in the design.

You just mentioned two of them.

And a bad drain line/hose in this case might just cost someone some felonies, or at least a major repair bill with a legitimately pissed off landlord.
