Glassblowing?

I am just picking this up, finally. Was surprised to see so few threads about blowing sick glass, seems to go hand in hand. Any other glassblowers around here still?

Blowing glass off of a butane torch is an art,...... blowing MASSES of glass for the hordes of smokers out there is a science.

How "Sick" is your glass? and is it worthy of the hordes,.... or just the few artisans?

I just started a couple weeks ago myself. So far I am only doing simple fumed spoons and bats, trying to get my shaping and wall thickness down before moving on to color rods. I just figured there would be some seasoned veterans around here, and was surprised to see very few threads about it.

Whats up guys!

Just joined up and have been blowing glass for 8+ years. I work scientific and make functional art in my free time. Anyone have any questions or custom glass orders or just want to say hello, holler at me.

Also, wheres this "sick" glass thread?

Been blowing glass since 2008. It's fun. Not as much easy money to be had as there was in the 90's - found that out in talking to veteran artists. What I would get $10 for they were getting $25 for in 98. And it keeps getting tougher. Ends up being a labor of love. If you love it, you do it and the money comes slowly at first. If you're trying to make money, good luck. lol... Expensive little hobby but it's well worth it. If you're a young, single person wanting to get into it for a career, I would advise them to get online at thegldg.com and meet some folks. Hit the road and learn everything you can. Everyone's got a unique style, yours will come with time. Have fun!

What do you guys think of this kit for a begginer wanting to make pipes?

https://www.artglass1.com/kit-420-glass-pipe.htm

I know it's not the best torch but it will suffice for making onies/chillums and spoons right?
