Social Security Disability and Cannabis Use?
Heyas,
Looking for information on how the colorado medical end handles social security disability filings and the mention of the use of cannabis? Seems to be a big question around here, lots of people disabled through injury using cannabis. Should they mention it for pain? Anyone else have any other questions we should put up threads on? Thanks and... Stay Safe!

I have heard of people not able to get SSD without being able to pass a drug test for mj first. I doubt they would take it away for smoking it once you hve it but remember......it is the feds we are talking about.

Anywhere, social security is federal.........so that means all 50 states.

No, my question is whether you heard about that happening in Colorado.
It doesn't sound like you're familiar with the system at all. It may be federal but most of it happens on the state level through state employees or doctors of the state... it's not 'fed' like you think. Stay Safe!

Social security is a federal agency............it's a fact........perhaps your thinking about workers comp?
from wiki The United States Social Security Administration (SSA) [2] is an independent agency of the United States federal government that administers Social Security, a social insurance program consisting of retirement, disability, and survivors' benefits. I wouldn't mention anything that is federally illegal, sorry but I know the system very well |

I'd imagine the only fear you should have is if your doing it for "fun". If you are disabled and it's clear you need it, you have doctors that back you, and in a legal state with a legal status there is no need for paranoia.
Regardless of what the media wants you to believe our Government is not heartless but made up of group interests controlled by humans. In part compassion but part greed. In general it will cost more to prosecute and house in prison a disabled drug offender then paying out disability alone. So if you need it, Why worry? |

Why mention it? There are no perks to mentioning cannabis use to the feds.....then again if millions of people told the feds they use cannabis as medicine, perhaps they would modernize the laws.ti
an interesting article on the subject: https://www.disabilitysecrets.com/mic1.html |

That's great and all, I'm looking for specific information on Colorado, preferably from people who are familiar with Colorado and the Colorado system.
Yes, it's fed. No... you don't understand the process and no, I'm not talking about worker's comp. Anyone with experience in this field? Would love to be able to give folks the right info to be looking up with their attorney. Stay Safe!

I don't think your understand, it has nothing to do with the state. Even when you go to a doctor for a review that doctor is then employed by the federal govt. I have been on SSD for about 12 years and know everything. Like I said I know someone denied cause they couldn't pass a drug test for mj.........like it or not I am telling you there is not one damn point in mentioning that you use a federally illegal item........not one point
