Help!! Need the experts...
okay... here's the scenerio.
3 plants... all the same strain, all in the same dirt, same size pots, same water, same same same same. Except for one thing: 1 plant isn't LOOKING the same at all. It looks like it's partially wilting all the time.. the other 2 don't. The tips of some of it's leaves are curing under... it is not growing as quickly as the others and overall it looks sickly. Leaves ARE NOT browning, spotty, or dying off (yet!!)... overall it's just this general look of wilt and more recently the curling under of the leaf tips. This is NOT a watering problem... they're allowed to dry properly before watering, and they aren't allowed to dry so much that they've ever wilted - so it can't be under or over watering.... it's got to be something else. Any ideas or help would be appreciated!! I'd post pics but these aren't my plants... they're a friend's and he lives in another city so I cannot actually see them - he asked for my advice & he doesn't have access to the net (I couldn't imagine what the problem is) so I offered to see what I could find here by asking all you experts. thanks, Cap'n Hook Last edited by Captain Hook; 03-29-2006 at 09:26 AM.. |

Had the EXACT thing happen to me...
Out of 4 plants, I had 1 that looked like you describe. It ended up being male, so I didn't worry about it. I never figured out what it was...

hmm... well I'm sure it's not a male because they're all clones that I gave to him (they all came from the same mother). ??
& what's the "lol" thing about, 420KM? It's funny that someone's having trouble? I thought this forum was for people who need help. Last edited by Captain Hook; 03-29-2006 at 10:37 AM.. |

well its cool that you are trying to help out a friends who has plants that are not even yours but to come here and ask for experts with no pics is funny. IC has world famous members with articals in high times to the best seed breeders as well as commerical growers.
maybe you better do a search before you post your threads as for the 1st of the 3 plants i wouldnt even try to help it if they are all getting the same treatment then its no good. it may have been contaminated while it was first cut. anything less that 15 plants is a waste. |

Thanks for your advice (although is wasn't very helpfull). 3 plants is plenty for a cancer patient who isn't able to eat without his medicine. Maybe 15 is the minimum if you're selling your dope... he isn't. And while I'm sure it's of no interest to you, I'm no newbie... just switched handles because of all the chaos.... I had 3 times as many posts as you do when I changed over. And I'm well aware of the many great reads such as the more recent articles by DJ... I also understand how to use the search function... the bottom line is (and while you seem to know the site well, maybe you missed this little detail) that this forum is here for people to ask questions and get advice regarding thier sick plants... and of course it's better if you can post pics, but my friend has enough trouble taking a piss or watering his plants.. he doesn't even have internet access, so he couldn't take or provide pics and I felt that his description was enough to make my post/question worth asking. And as it happened, his description was enough for me to figure out that he wasn't ferting enough (as they say... when troubleshooting it's usually the most obvious problem/solution)... Turns out that after he gave them a nice dose of ferts (because I suggested it to him after a little more Q & A) his plant is looking better than ever & just like the others now... did it cross your mind that the plant might have been starving? Or did it just not matter because he isn't a commercial gardener? I'm not interested in starting a long drawn out arguement (although it may appear otherwise) but I must say that your remarks were innapropriately condescending and not appreciated. Makes one feel sorry for the real newbies... you should try to be a little more friendly/helpfull if you're actually going to take the time to post in a thread like the one I started. It's one thing to get "smart" with the typical smart-ass newbie who won't listen to you and argues with most (if not all of) your advice... I'm sure you've seen and/or tried to help as many as I have... but it's something else entirely to make someone feel stupid when all they're trying to do is learn something by being humble enough to ask questions, don't you think? Take care, Cap'n PS I know people who pull 12-14 ounces out of one plant... so you're wrong (and misleading people) to say that less than 15 isn't even worth it. Hook - Sorry you didn't get the help you need. Glad to hear you figured out the problem. If your friend has the funds, he should look into getting meters to measure pH, ppm, tds, temps, rh, etc. and problems are easier to figure out.
Your question was a little vague - It's hard to diagnose without seeing it or knowing more about the grow. I didn't mean my plant being male had anything to do with it. They showed sex right after one started to look bad, so I never worried about what it was. I hope you aren't discouraged from asking questions in the future.

Did you just come here to rip on someone that was asking for help? Way to support the cause. Oh, yeah, and I'm an ex-OG'er, so I guess I'm inferior as well.

First of all, 420, it has been you, my friend... and not I, who has been acting in a manner which would fit the stereotype people associate with OGers.... you're comment "no thanks" is a little (LOT) late since it was you (from the very beginning) who was posting negative, unfriendly, and irritating material. You shouldn't have posted here in the first place because "If you don't have anything nice to say... "
Second, it is at this point that you have officially made yourself look like a jerk-off - brilliant! DJ - thank you for your comments. While you may be an OG refugee, you're obviously not someone who fits into the stereotype I just referred to. I really appreciate you chiming.... It's nice to see someone else putting Mr. 420 in his place. 420 - I'll make you a deal, kid (you should know all about deals... what with your gigantic "worthwhile" commercial crops that exceed 14 plants).... if you don't post in this thread again I won't either. My guess is that you won't be able to stand it.... me having the last word & all. That would be typical of someone of your calibur (you know... the x-OG'er who DOESN'T understand respect and courtesy). Just the same, my offer stands. Actually, since the originall problem has been solved there really isn't any reason for anyone to post here again at all. High Seas (of green!) Cap'n |
