HFH guerrilla 2013

High all

As the sun sends it's first taste of this years upcoming spring these days, I've got recurrent dreams of greens in the woods. I actually prepped some spots last autumn but footprints in the snow has now told me the prepped spot is useless. Better safe than sorry right?! A shame really as I had prepped this spot for about 80 plants already... Now I need some advice on what to do.

I've got 8 strains in total, 7 HFH: Purple Nepal, Brown and White -07, Scottish, Nepiran, HP2 and Danish Durban + GG#3.
My original plan was to sprout all beans inside and put them in pre-prepped guerrilla spots. I don't have time to prep enough new spots for this many plants now, but with still like to grow a full pack of 2-4 of the above strains. Also I would like to run smaller test grows of the remaining strains. I plan to pop 4-5 beans for each of the test grows. Any suggestions and tips on which strains to choose as main strains are welcomed
I still plan to pop the beans inside, but my indoor grow space is a bit more limited than first thought. 30-40 seedlings at max when they get bigger. I plan to put the seedlings out between the end of may and end of june. My area will usually get the first frost mid october, but may have growing conditions up to the first half of november if I'm lucky. Usually I ain't

The main and most of the test grows will be done in raised beds in marshy areas. The new spots I will prep are inside very dense brushes, it will hardly be possible to get inside there during summer. Some spots for test grows will be tried in steep hill/mountain sides. Dry and very sunny spots. After the seedlings are put out in their prepped spots the plan is to leave them alone more or less all the time up to harvest.
How many liters of soil mix will I need for the main grows (10+) plants, and the test grows (3-5 plants) respectively? And how many beans do you think I will have to pop to get 3-5 plants?

For info I'm at 60N.

You guys think this is achievable, or will it be hell of a lot of work? Family issues gives me limited time to spend. Any tips and advice are most welcome. Feel free to tell everyone about your HFH guerrilla plans 2013 in this thread as well.

Peace

20 seeds should give you at least 3-5 good female plants. As for soil it depends how big you want your plants. Last year to make mounds in a marsh we took a 5 gallon bucket (15 liter bucket) took soil from a few feet from where we were growing and piled it up. Worked great if you want to loosen the soil up some take a few bags of perlite with you it's light. We archived plants close to a pound a piece using this method.

High bud!
Thx for interesting info. Sounds like an easy guerrilla that, perfect for me I got a few questions and hope you have the time for some answers.
Did you make the mounds about 15 liters each, and did you grow one or more plants in each?
Did you use any kind of fertilizer during the growth?
What latitude are you at?
And last but not least, what strains did you grow?

The mounds I made where closer to 100 to 150 liters but before I made my mounds I tilled the dirt underneath where I made the mounds.

Only other thing added was a top dressing earth worm castings in the spring and budswell bat guano early August.

42 n. lat

Strains where mostly strains I got from freinds a lot of deep chunk hybrids.

My biggest trouble last year was slugs they chew the cambium around the base of your plants and before you know it your plants wilt and die. I had some snail repellent around the base but it wasn't enough. This year I'm going to put something around the base of each plant . I seen a thread a few years back where someone put aluminum cans around the base they cut little tabs along the top and folded them over making a 90 degree angle.

High again!
Too bad you made the mounds so big, smaller ones would have saved me a lot of work The bigger ones makes more sense though.

The slugs are a big prob here as well. Last year they ate all my seedlings and left me with nothing. I have been looking at the can-solution you suggest as well, but think I will try something else. I will buy some cheap, soft copper pipes that I will curl in a cirkel and place around the base of the plant. The slugs hate copper I've read, and the rings will be placed so that the plants don't get in contact with the rings. Hopefully this will help!

PS! At 42 you're probably soon ready to put the plants in soil. I have to wait untill the snow and ice melts away to dig my holes....

Yup it's a little work but its a lot easier than carrying bags of soil out into the middle of no where.

Oh yeah thanks for the tip with the copper! I remember reading it a few times just forgot about it.

I actually have some snow here in spots. Digging will begin shortly.
But planting don't start til late may.
Here's what those mounded piles produced

Lovely plants you got there! I would be happy with half the size

Do you pregrow your plants inside before planting them out? I plan to start putting them out late may/early june as well, but will have to take the weather into account before the final decision. Last year we hardly had temps over 15 degrees celsius all june....

Yes they where all started indoors put out around a foot tall. They only get veged in beer cups which I think hurt overall vigur of the plants. If you never restrict the plants roots you will see explosive growth. Also if your temps are cold make some mini greenhouses fo them. The extra heat you give them while they are begging will be a big payoff in the end. I only recommend the mini greenhouse though if yours spot is secure and there's not much of a worry for anyone spotting them.
