i wet trimmed for years, and buds never had the same stink as the buds my friends were getting. even after a cure. then i dried a few plants whole and drytrimmed, and realized i'd been doing it wrong all along.

pain in the ass, but it's worth it if you care about bag appeal.

Dry trim > trim wet. Remove fan leafs and leafs with no trich, but leave all frosty leafs intact.

If you do trim wet and you want to have anywhere near the odor and flavor of a dried trim, you will need to not hang your wet trimmed buds past 3 days, Anything more then 3 days and your product will more then likely dry out to far and ruin any cure you could have obtained.

You can get similar outcomes from a wet and dry trim if you can manage to contain the wet trimmed nugs humidity lv, The way to do that is to pull them earlier and jar them earlier.

It's just easiest to get the perfect cure when you trim dry, because the leafs cup over the buds and protect them and trap some moisture in slowing down the dry process which curing seems to start before they even get jarred. Where anytime I trimmed wet, the smell was gone until jarred and optimal humidity was reached and then the jars were left to cure out.

With dry trim by the time you start trimming some curing has already taken place which is why soon as you start removing the leafs the odor comes out heavy, by the time you get it into the jars the smell is righteous and dank.

Exactly what i found too. I leave all sugar leaf on my personal stash until i'm about to smoke it. It definitely preserves the delicate, volatile terpenes.

Dry trim = mass loss of resin when trimming
Wet trim , After 2 days as long as the humidity stays between 45 and 50 you will have perfectly dry buds you can leave them on the shelfs or hanging as long as you want and they will not over dry , I dry on wrecks nets I trim all the bud so that when it is dry I do not need to trim any thing again , totally less handling of buds bags and moving big leafy plants around and every chop of the scissors makes for mass amount of resin loss , people get better results dry because the leaves and stems lean to a more forgiving drying , less chance of drying out to quick but if you follow the 45-50 percent rule it's not a problem will take a week if not a few more days with wet bud dries like this , also we need to cram the herb in if hanging have them touching if on a net have no gaps and have them also i top of each other like a thick ish layer but not to thick as to flatten the buds , then the most crucial if using hanging nets is to very gently lift the buds of the net when dry other wise if you just use your hand and arm you will turn your nets into cheese graters and swipe the resin of the out sides ,
And when using nets never ever move the buds around like most people seem to do Leave Them till they are dry , my method is to touch the buds as little as possible , all the heads of my resin glands are all ways in tact unlike dry trimmed weed I see

Hello all,

This year, I just cut and hanged my buds this year.

I plucked the fans and big stuff briefly and hung it at about 70% humidity for 5 weeks...yes that long.

I bucked them from the branches and stuffed them in a 1/2 gallon jars with Boveda packs (62%).

Was very lazy about it this year...I reasoned (or rationalized, your choice) that I will just do it at smoking time.

I keep small jars of each strain available while leaving the bulk unopened.

So, I clean my buds before I vape them and you know what...no difference in my mileage. A lot easier for me since its mostly just me on consuming.

That is all.

Someone told me the best way to harvest and dry cannabis is to keep the roots intact and shake off the soil, then hang the whole plant upside down. This seems counterintuitive to me since the starches are stored in the roots during the Calvin cycle and it seems they would migrate back to the top via gravity.

RE wet vs. dry trimming, it seems to me that minimizing transmigration of nutrients and chloroform from leaves to the flowers would be beneficial. But I'm just guessing.
