marijuana increases stroke risk!

If this is not the correct forum, MODS please move it. healthland.time.com/2013/02/08/marijuana-linked-to-increased-stroke-risk/
This does not seem like a well designed study to me. Any of you out there more of an expert than me? It was a small study in a New Zealand hospital that didn't remove other risk factors, no double blind etc. etc. Interesting though.

All of the stroke victims except one also had nicotine in their system. Also, no mention is made of any statistical tests or if any statistical significance is attached to the "findings". I can't say without reading the actual journal article (if there is one) or looking at the data, but it doesn't look like they are justified in reporting that at this point.

I remember a study a couple of years back saying the opposite, that Cannabis had a neuro-protective effect, and that people who had a stroke with Cannabis in their systems, had less severe strokes, along with more complete and faster recoveries.

What do you expect? It's a study out of New Zealand.Every Cannabis article I have ever read that comes out of New Zealand is slanted or is total Bullshiat.

The only thing that really increases stroke risk is being single...or divorced.

Qualifier needed though. My exs usually stroked well. But self-stroking has definitely a higher risk of occurring when unattached.

Anyway, I also was under the impression cannabis use DECREASED stroke susceptibility. Something about a prophylactic effect on nerves endings?

Typical New Zealand gov't funded horse-shit.

I usually wait the lights are turned off and everyone has gone home before I have a stroke.

high blood pressure is a main cause of strokes, cannabis lowers blood pressure.
