so my question is...is that true? if i use plain water to flush it for 1 or 2 days will my buds die???? and if i turn off my light for 2days will my plant dont have enough light???? PS im using ebb n flow system...wit 1000watt hps..but i guess it doesnt matter what it is now right? haha..in few days it will be done.....but i dont wanna fuck it up in the end....so i need to ask ya this dumb question...thx! |

The 48 hours of dark is a myth - pointless.
The flushing is a very good call, however 3 days isn't going to cut it, but it's better than nothing. Most growers like to flush the system for the last 2 weeks before harvest, so no, 3 days of plain water is not going to kill them, but it's not going to be an effective flush, either. If at all possible, I'd let them go at least another week, with nothing but plain water - no nutes. The purpose of a flush is to cleanse the plants of built up fertilizers, producing a much tastier, smoother smoke than unflushed. You can tell when a bud has been properly flushed, as it will burn down to a pure white ash, instead of nasty black crud. What method are you using to gauge your harvest? Not pistil (hair) color, I hope, although, I get the sneaking suspicion this might be the case?

About a year ago there was a big, I mean really huge back & forth discussion on Overgrow about weather to flush or not to. After reading & reading I finally came to the conclusion that it's best not to flush....and so I don't & honestly I can't tell the difference. If others can then, what can I say.
Just didn't make sense to starve the plant as it was finishing its development. I know others will jump all over this but, for my money I wouldn't sweat missing your flush. Enjoy your grow. Bh |

biped- I tend to agree. I think a truly pro flush makes a noticeable difference, but is so damn hard to do properly in ammended organic soil. You really have to have your shit dialed in to nail the timing properly. I strive for a flush, but like you said, I don't sweat it when I don't nail it perfectly.

Yeah, I can notice a flushed to unflushed bud. In soil it's not as critical. In Dro I woundnt even think about not flushing.

I have a question about flushing as well. I always hear you should use "pure water," whatever that means. when you flush hydroponics, do you still adjust the ph to 5.8 (app), or do you just put in the water and let it run for a week?
