When does Destroyer stop stretching in flower?!

I posted this same question under the Destroyer thread but since time is an issue, I figured it would be more visible here. My apologies for the duplication.

I have a pretty serious height issue with my Destroyer. It's a beautiful plant but it just keeps growing and growing like the energizer bunny of cannabis.

I am a month into flowering and the plant is over 2 meters tall and still growing an inch or more a day. I have about 12 more inches before I can no longer accommodate any more growth at all. I need to know if its going to stop stretching soon or not. If not, I will have to do an emergency LST which I would rather avoid.

Can anybody give me an idea of how far into a flower Destroyer will keep stretching?

BTW, it is a truly beautiful and super vigorous plant. My compliments to the breeders at CBG.

I can't speak about Destroyer's stretch, but I can say that the sativas I nipped, bended, squeezed and contorted never seemed to be phazed by it, some even seemed to grow faster

I have a long thai pheno of zamaldelica, very branchy and long node. I let her 6 day alone, she must be no more than 60-70cm. I come back, she was inside the extractor at 1m80

This kind of plant is just impossible to control, i start her in flower at 2 week from seed start (14-15h daylight, no more in veg), and she was very small and weak (the weakest of all my zamaldelica). And i let her the 5 first week of flowering in 2.5 liter pot...

So, how could you control this kind of monstrous thai pheno ? You can't

That Zamaldelica sounds crazy. I have some of those beans myself. I didn't plant them because I had heard it's kind of a pro only strain so I wanted to hold off until I had a little more experience.

The Destroyer is half Thia, the same Thia line that is in Zameldelica so it's probably the reason its stretching like crazy. Oddly enough I have one Nep Jam which is also stretching like mad. It was literally two or three times the size of the other Nep Jam. I think it's finally almost done with the stretch but the Destroyer is going as strong as ever. It takes up a huge space, from wall to wall on one side of the grow room. It's such a nice looking plant but I won't make the mistake of letting it veg a full month next time, or at least if I do I will properly top and bonsai it.

If anybody can give me an idea of when or if the stretch on the Destroyer will slow down please give me a heads up. I'm pretty new to the medical grow scene so any advice is appreciated. The soil I used was too nitrogen hot and I had to switch to a back up MH bulb for a while both of which might have extended the stretch.

Hi Hatter,

one bit of advice, use a MH... you are already doing !

Re the emergency LST, yes, it is by far the best solution IMO. One word of warning, I have seen this on Sats many times, if you LST a branch over too late in flower, it spunks out a fresh burst of floral growth, that also has to finish... So your lower parts are ready, while the top needs another month... If you do it early on, no problems.

From what I am learning about my Oranges, Olives and Almonds trees now, it is the same as I saw indoors with MJ SCROGs, use the opportunity to shape the growing to the light available, keep heads away from the [heat] light, be ruthless, form a Stadium now, then it is all plain sailing...

Good luck with Destroyer, she is next Super Sativa on my list, a rare 10/10 quality product.

Thanks for the advice. I think some sort of emergency LST is in order. It's still pretty early in flower. I would imagine she still has at least 6 weeks of flower left maybe as much as 8 or 9.

I have sort of a stadium set up right now, but it's far from perfect. Basically I have the two really tall plants sitting to the left and right of the light and the two shorter ones in the middle under it. My space is very long but only 2ft wide which is why I can't to a true stadium design. Mine is more like a U than a bowl.

I was hoping the stretch would stop around week 5 or 6. So far people have been telling me that its pretty much going to stretch until the end of flower. Anyone else agree with or disagree with the estimate?

Destroyer generally stretches for 4-5 weeks depending on pheno

Thanks, that's a number I can work with. Even if it goes a week longer than that she won't hit the ceiling. I was about to emergency LST her but she's so tall that it would have put a serious strain on the top of the plant to support a lopsided cola. It would have been a nightmare propping it up properly. I would much rather just let her grow naturally since this late in the game stressing her is a bad idea.

I now understand why pure sativas really do need to be controlled and shaped all the way from early veg. I wanted to just let them grow this first time to see what they are supposed to look like naturally, a base line.

I won't be doing this again.
