Hey bro, I noticed in one of your threads you're using 4" tin foil dryer vent ducting. They make it with a metal rib so peeps can pull their dryers out without the connection coming off. The metal rib creates something called the "Eddy Effect"- all the peaks and valleys knock the airflow way down. A 10' section can reduce the velocity by as much as 50%. It shouldn't be a problem if used in short sections. There's a semi-rigid ducting Contractors use in the walls and ceilings that has a smooth interior. It works great for longer runs.

Seed Buyers Beware! Don't waste your money on hype. If you have to buy multiple seed packs to find that "keeper", you're getting ripped off. Every female in a pack of seeds should be a keeper! We've been led to believe that lots of variation in a cross is a good thing, because some vendors would rather you buy several packs of their gear, instead of them actually doing the selections to fix that nag champa or golden clit trait themselves. For hobby growers, pheno hunting is fun. But mono-croppers who grow to pay the bills prefer a consistent product that regularly delivers the desired trait package.

Hey festi -- thanks for the advice.

I'm actually a contractor by trade, so I'm dealing with duct work more than I'd like to! Ur completely right about the eddy effect, and it's called "flex duct", it's actually not the kind used for washers & dryers, that kind is called semi-ridged ... With that kind it comes collapsed and u pull the metal apart to straighten out to length.

I don't like using semi ridged as it is prone to ripping (verrrry thin gauge) and denting. Flex is what is used to run ducting thru homes, regardless of the eddy effect. If you are pulling your air, instead of pushing, you just need to make sure you have a big enough fan at the end of the run and it'll keep air running smooth. I use 6" lines & 8" lines (not 4") that run into a manifold I built from sheet. Then my 12" line runs from the manifold to my exhaust port in the foundation wall, the 12" fan is the very last thing on the run.

If I was pushing air the eddys would fuck me up, but since I'm pulling the farther down the run u go the smoother and more CFM u encounter. Only downside to pulling is negative pressure which will suck air from rooms into the hoods if they aren't 100% sealed. Obviously with pushing, your keeping air in the room cus it's trying to escape thru the hood cracks. But pushing air is never the most efficient way to run a duct.

Also - the reason it's wrong to use flex for a drier is because those ribs will catch every drop of lint, which then builds up and burns out the blower motor... Or starts a fire, one or the other lol.

And to clarify, a house duct system is ran with ridged sheet & flex T's off the sheet run and goes to registers and returns.

alrighty .. quick update cus i gotta catch a train!

so i think we had 4 girls total, and 1 (the tallest pheno) ended up throwing ALOT of balls, not pickable. i know others have had this problem (specifically with the stretchiest pheno) but mine was probably accentuated by a 2 day power outage i recently had in my area. so anyways, take that with a grain of salt.. and its really too bad as well, because that pheno has crazy amount of double serration and was showing the Chem D intervenal chlorosis (the spotty coloring) and a little bit of leaf mutation.

anyways, everything else looks great.. left with 2 pretty tall phenos, seem to be different than the giant girl tho, and 1 very small indica pheno.. this one barely stretched, and has very different leaves. They dont have a greasy look like the tall girls, instead its a very leathery and almost dry loook. im really excited for this girl, i want to find a fast finishing OG very badly! and one that dont stretch.. wow thatd be nice!
