I think you will find that they are not approved in that form in Australia but it is approved
for commercial operations treating wetlands ect .this company sell it bulk maybe give them a call and see ..the online orders for mozzie dunks are likely to come from the States and may not make it through customs

You might also look for the active ingredient as well as the brand name.

Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (Bti)

Gday fellas, was at Bunnings the other day and picked up a packets of mosquito pellets. Cost about 12 bux. Active ingredient is methoprene. Sounds pretty toxic but is supposed to be safe .

Here's a link. Click on the Prolink Overview for the evironmental factors. Gets used in drinking water etc.

What yas reckon?

Hey Mullabor I guess you want these mossie dunks after reading the thread about getting rid off fungas gnats in the infirmary? the Dunks are made off Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (Bti) ,Dipel used for Caterpillar control is Bacillus thuringiensis .Personalty I would try using Dipel (easy to get at Bunnings) and see how that works before venturing down the Insect Growth Regulator path (methoprene).. Give it a try first and keep us Aussie,s informed off the results. Some more info on dipel ..Good Luck

A pest control mainstay for organic growers worldwide. Dipel contains Bacillus thuringiensis, or Bt for short, it is highly effective and selective against most species of caterpillars including lawn armyworm syn. lawn grub (EcoGrub and Eco-Neem is also good for this), cotton bollworm, cabbage moth, cabbage white butterfly, green looper, lightbrown apple moth, pear looper, vine moth, soybean looper and tobacco looper. This biological control is a bacterial stomach poison for all caterpillars, which is mixed with water and sprayed onto foliage. It must be ingested by the actively feeding caterpillar as it is not a contact spray, which dies 3-5 days later. It is totally safe to beneficial insects, bees, and mammals. Bt is broken down by sunlight within a few days, so repeated applications may be necessary.

Thanks rumblefish, forgot all about dipel and to be honest, i wouldn't have even thought about using it indoors lol. Used it many years ago when i had to battle the lawn grub in a lawn of couch i'd just laid. I will definately look for it.

Cheers mate, n thanks for reminding me that i don't need to use hydro specific chems to get the job done
