I am a med user for both depression and anxiety, and would like to know what strains have best helped other people with similiar illnesses. I am trying to find two strains actually, one for each symtom. I know that when I smoke an indica it helps with anxiety and sativas help more with depression, for me at least, but what are your experiences with strains.

That's been my experience as well. Anxiety can be helped with soothing Indica dominant strains like Snowbud, Black Domina, LUI, etc. Depression, on the other hand responds best to Sativa dominant hybrids.

To kind of split the difference you might look at strains that combine the anxiolytic and antidepressant qualities in one strain. I'd look at Blueberry (and other blues) which while largely Indica have a good bit of up Thai Sativa in them.

Yes. I've grown DP's Blueberry which was a pain in the ass plant (slow as heck and mutated on me). The thing is that both my mutant Blueberry and the BB that friends have grown is terrific. D.J Shorts used an Upland Thai Sativa in that hybrid that provides some real euphoria along with relaxation. Our girl finally sucumbed to mites but I'd grow her again.

Nirvana Seeds makes a nice Bubble Gum x Blueberry mix called Bubblicious. It's nice for folks with a high anxiety level ~

good thread guys...i may eventually grow some of these relaxing strains as I recently experience my first panic attack. It was def one, if not, the worst experience in my life. It came out of no where and I had never had/shown any signs of depression or anxiety before. Guess things just catch up with you eventually :(

I agree with the Dr., I was having trouble sleeping and dealing with some social situations, and the knock out Indicas have seemed too really help!! If u need some get up and go, for ur depression, dont go too overboard with something really edgy like C99 or such, go with the Docs recommendation for something in between.

I agree with Dr Jay, Blueberry is awesome and it treats depression and anxiety. I find that this strain is much maligned, it is not as difficult to grow as everyone says. The secret is to, go easy on the nutes in veg, maybe 1/3- 1/2 what you would normally use on other strains. Once you get it to 12/12, feed it just like a normal strain.
