Help a noob out... leaf tips curl down
Hey All
Ive had these BubbleGum girls growing from seed for the past 3 months. They are 6 weeks into flowering now. 2 plants Growing in each in its own 10Gal DWC Rubbermaid tub. PPM 1600- 1800 ph 5.9 Air Temp is about 60 at the stalk & higher at the top near the buds, maybe close to 85. Water Temp is 55 I have been using Highgrades method of feeding w\ GH nutes & Epsom Salts , Im not using ProTekt like Highgrade does. I just fed both of them yesterday w\ the same nute GH mix and I come home from work and the 1 plant has curled leaf tips. Only the 1 though.. The tips are curling down . Any ideas. I looked around a little but most of the probs I saw caused thetips to curl up.?.? Thanks for any advise folks!! Timmmy |

Strain is nirvanas durban poision in soil that is mixed with 1/2 cup blood/bone meal and peralite. Under a 400w HPS 3 weeks into flowering. Temps between 76-86 depending on ambient temps of the room. Ive been looking for a way to test pH but I can't find a soil pH tester anywhere so I have been not using any nutes and have been watering with distilled water. I think it might be due to high temps but I am really not sure.

I have had a bagseed plant do the same thing. I grew in soil mixed with blood and bone meal. She had curled leaves and brown tips all the way till flower. She still gave 3.5 oz. But the leaf thing gets on your nerves. Ph was 6-6.5. The meals were mixed 1/2cup each per 5 gallons soil. The plant was heavy sativa. watered with 6.0 ph, Medina Hasta gro 6-12-6, (10ml), maxicrop seaweed(cap full) per gal water.

Too much N pH too high (isn't 5.9 a tad high for hydro?) Salts build-up Root damage Fungus Directly from the mouth of a very trusted grower. If your roots are healthy and you're pretty on top of your nutes and know the N isn't on the high side, then I would first suspect your pH, then salts. Hope that helps! |

Thx a lot Canine, for the advise, that does help, now any suggestions??
I read a doc too that pointed to high N but Im a noob and not sure. How to test for too high N ? Here is a quote from MynameStitch <-- thx Stitch Quote:
Salt Buildup This is something that is concerning me as I have not flushed the nute solution since day 1. I am wondering if a flush would help. Flushing isnt easy , those tubs are heavy, I need a small pump or something. roots look OK I think , heres a pic. fungus I dont think this is a prob but I havnt considered it either. I dont see \ smell any nasty. What to look for ? Last edited by Libalau-Timmay; 03-23-2006 at 06:08 PM.. |

Claw is caused by toxic levels of N in the leafes, this can have a couple of reasons...
Highgrades formula was the first i think to be published for DWC... a lots of things have happened since highgrade ![]() The GH Grow bottle contains a lots of ammonia, a fast release kind of N, combined with DWC (very fast release medium) its usually to hot. I don't like ammonia for DWC ![]() Salt built ups = high EC in the rootzone in DWC, same thing Anyways, go easier on the nutes dude keep your res topped with water or the EC will riseyour pH is cool mace |
