The only way to learn is by playing...not saying you will automatically enjoy your resutls - I've made bunk seeds before...it happens.

But at the same time, once you get it right, you start forming an eye for what was beneficial - and each time things come together a bit better...or at least you hope...lol.

I think that male needs transplanted - hehehe - he looks root bound and underfed as a result. BUT I think it is cool that his balls are are going purple. That guy could make some cool plants!! What's the smell like on him - although, it won't be the same as if he were vibrant and healthy, giving fresh/new growth to rub and smell on...but what does he smell like?

WOW I've been slacking HARD!
So I was sick as hell over the weekend and didn't really get around to doing that much. You were totally right, all my seedlings are root bound as hell and starting to yellow up because of it. I had some issues with my ammended soil mix. The base mix worked great as you can see from all the previous pics, the little babies loved it. But I tried putting a few random plants in the ammended mix and I burnt the fuck out of them. I think I didn't have the proper amount of base soil when I ammended.

So I cut my mix with some more sphagnum peat moss and some hydroton. In case, it was still too hot I transplanted the male and the two GDPxQ's first as a test. The one BKGK Bx1 I have is still in a beer cup and still has the most lush and green growth. I didn't want to chance killing her in a hot mix.

Come the weekend I will most likely be transplanting the remaining and doing some cloning as well.

As far as that male, I don't know what the fuck he smells like man. I've always had a problem at distinguishing what the smells are. All I can say is most would not find it as a pleasant smell. It is strong.
I'm gonna see if a buddy can't help me pinpoint the smells.

And about making the seeds, I'm just doing it for fun and to hopefully supply myself with a good amount of backup seeds of good genetics, in case I were ever to lose my mothers or something.

Unfortunately I have no pics this time... I know right, a wall of text and no pics... oh well.

Promise they will come soon, when I transplant the rest and clone these little bitches.

Hey - health first - get feeling better!

You'd be surprised what a beating some of these "weeds" we grow can take - I know I have been on several different occasions. Surprisingly resilient...

Have you posted your soil mix in this thread? I know I've seen it some where else...lol...but maybe we here at ICm can help you get things sorted out... or if you have a thread on that already, perhaps a link so I can take a look easier.

Keep on keepin' on!!

Hey Frank! Thanks bro, I'm feeling decent now. I did briefly mention my mix in my original post but I'll gladly give it some more detail and where I'm pretty sure I messed up, just a little.

As you know I used the KISOrganics Nutrient Pack, they call to add their pack to 15 gallons sphagnum peat moss, 7.5 gallons compost, and another 7.5 gallons of some type of aeration ammendment. This is what I used for my general base mix, only probably was I didn't have a 5 gallon bucket or anything to use to measure, so I had to "eye it out".

I had a 1 cubic foot bag of some coast of maine lobster compost, I started with that broke up all the big chunks and then began mixing in my peat moss. I used Lambert brand because I got a good deal with free shipping from amazon but next time I'm definitely just goin to home depot and gettin Premier. Either way I put what I thought has 2 more cubic feet of peat moss. Then I threw in about half of a 2 cubic feet bag of perlite. But like I said earlier that was straight dust pretty much.

This was my base mix, what the seedlings were in for their whole first month, living off compost and peat pretty much. So I took as much as I needed for all my seedlings and everything, I'd say took about 20 beer cups of soil worth out AND THEN mixed in the NUtrient Pack. AND, I was mixing in a 22 gal tote soo theres no way I ever had 30 gal.

LOL I put enough fertilizer for 30 gal into 20 gal of soil. But I think I've got it all sorted out now. after trying to get the hot ass soil to work, I used enough of it that i had enough room in the tote to add more peat and aeration. I finally got a 5 gallon bucket, filled it up with the extra peat I had and the watered it down with some water mixed with aloe vera gel ( great surfactant) and then mixed into the hot soil. I also threw in some hydroton rocks cuz that perlite I have blows.

I put the male CBxDB Bx1 in the mix after mixing in the extra peat and aeration, and it seemed to be looking happier when I checked on it this morning so I decided to transplant everything.

Heres some root porn for anyone whose into that kinda stuff...

ALright fuck this last pic its takin too long too load and im already late. go in my allbum if u wanna see. peace have a good day brotha

Got ya. As long as you've got it sorted and figured out on your end...

I'm excited to see what the KIS Nutrient packs can do!

Perlite comes in different sieve sizes, like most things, and the common used for our plants is called "chunky" or coarse perlite - it is a bit larger in size. I'm not sure the exact size number but I am wanting to say it is #3, which measures in sizes up to 1/2" and number 4 measures in sizes up to 1".

I also recommend you look into expanded slate products like Permatill - these expanded slate products are PERFECT for a re-usable porous substance that can replace perlite in a medium....and have much better longevity, which makes it much more ideal for those who want to recycle a soil for repeated uses, with out having to worry about the drainage of the medium changing as perlite gets crushed...

I've yet to try using lava stone...but will do so soon.

Nice job so far sour. Can't wait to see what these bring you. I wanted to snag a pack of these or LVPK mix along with the BKGK I got, but I wasn't quick enough.

Hope you don't mind me getting a little off topic in your thread...but I saw Frank's above post and thought I'd put my input it on the lava stone. Plus, I know us organic gardeners are always looking for ways to improve our soil mixes. I grow with a similar style as the both you...since I'm pretty sure I've read you guys make your own organic soil mixes.

Needless to say, a buddy of mine gave me a few 5 gallon buckets full of the pebble-sized lava stones. They are superior to any kind of perlite I've used...even the large coarse chunky kind that I use all the time. The obvious benefits being this stuff does not break down like perlite over time, and you certainly can't crush this stuff between two fingers like you can with perlite. It's very durable, but light, and it maintains its shape. I'm sure this helps more oxygen get to the roots because if you have a good ratio of it in your mix...your soil won't compact in the slightest bit. Also great if you recondition your soil, since you won't need to add much for aeration in your next run.

I'd use this stuff all the time if I had better access to it. For me, it's tough to find places to purchase these smaller "pebble-sized" lava stones in smaller quantities...which would suit me since I only run 2 small tents. If you can get your hands on some I'd try it out, seems to be a great alternative to perlite.

Keep up the good work sour, I'll definitely be here for the show over the next couple months.

That is the problem I run into with the lava stone as well - I don't usually find small enough stones - what I find is much more suited to being landscaping stone / mulch.

I honestly think the expanded slate products are based on lava stone in general...
