How Should This Be Approached?

Considering the hundreds, if not thousands of hybrids on the market, could one breed a couple of personal/special hybrid strains from three landraces. They're Nigerian, Afghani and Hindu Kush. Is it possible to do this without growing a few hundred specimens? Would you breed the Kush with the Afghanica? Would you use males and females from all three strains? The Kush is about 21% THC and the breeder is under estimated. I have no experience but would like to know what you experienced breeders think/would do. How should this be approached?

hey hemper, you can most certainly make your own crosses from those land races. I would recommend reading dj shorts book for a little insight into selection criteria and things to observe in the parental lines and how they may or may not act in the crosses. Growing a few hundred specimens would be ideal, but you can get by with less, and if your parent lines are worked already you could get some keeper plants with much less selecting. I think you should lay out some characteristics that you are looking for and breed towards them, other wise you will have a lot of interesting plants and not know what to keep and what to leave behind. Good luck in your journey and read the heck out of all the info you can.

i'd get the seeds but keep the genes pure for a bit. then when you've found multiple distinctly different mothers and fathers and have the origanal genetics coming out your ass, you can really see how different crosses would compliment eachother
