Gday folks

2 nights ago i was refused entry to icmag presumably by my net provider. I was taken to the front page but the message "you have been forbidden access" or words to that effect.

I assumed it was just icmag down for a bit or some such, forgot about it and went to bed. Next day same deal...

When my missus got home i used her phone (i dont own one) to get online and voila! - icmag loaded no worries and i was able to login. Now using her phone to go online is a very frustrating experience and typing into boxes is useless. So i didnt post.

Worked a treat. Allows you to register free and encrypts your online activities. Takes your ip through Romania(!) and makes your invisible online!

I thought it would take much fart arsing around to get it working but no, easiest thing ever.

So, here i am. Took a wee bit longer to load but worth it for total privacy.

Looks like my net provider (was Netspace when i bought the package but that was couple years ago. They were bought out by IINET) is blocking me! What a bunch of hairy ****s. I am going to phone them but WILL NOT wait on hold for ages so perhaps my patience will wear thin.... but i will get in touch somehow.

Anyone else have this happen? Not happy...

On the flip side had this not happened i would'nt have found out about the Romanian thing...

Ditch that Romanian proxy. Random third party that has the ability to collect and monitor your browsing history? No, thanks.

Use TOR.

And get a new ISP, if you can. They sound like a kunty lot.

Same thing has happened to me. I am/was with AApT also bought out by IINET! I am using a proxy at the moment.

Don't know what is happening. I can get on other stoner sites (but I no longer want to). If it turns out IINET are blocking I will switch as I am not on any contract.

anyway ... good to hear yr back on ... altho sounds like the issue is not fully resolved because Romania is noted for its corruption.

Yeah cheers for the info. I had never heard of this vpn client thing but found it yesterday after searching for answers to this little prob...

I have read about TOR before but assumed it would be a pain in the ass and would slow me down too much?

Using Romania is working thus far.

Personally i think we have much dodgier online privacy in Australia and UK, USA than anywhere else except China, NKorea etc...

Romania kicked out their dictator so they got that going for them. They also make great red wine and are home to Translyvania and their lovely history of blood drinking and all that.

Besides that i know very little. Cant be any dodgier than our current ALP kiddy fiddlers/fraudsters...

But I 'm wondering by what authority your server blocked you both?

how come they blocked your access to this site?

who pulled YOUR specific identities and authorised that your activities be restricted?

Thanks for the heads up Silver Surfer re smart phone. I haven't been able to log on for 2 days. Just turned off the wifi on my smartfone and connected via 4g. Needed a password reset and all.

I have a telstra act for phone and a big pond (telstra) for internet.

I dont think though its my isp thats blocking the access to be honest. When blocked i am seeing the ICMAG page and a message saying your access has been denied. Now please for a moment understand that i know nothing about computers and the internet but i wonder if i am getting banned as i have my connection via a router and icmag is banning the ip generated by the routers. If it was the isp's that were banning the routers the site just wouldn't work and would get one of those blank pages with some sort of error code or i would end up on bigpond search engine page and it would list icmag but a click would not lead any where except straight back to the big pond page.

Also seed boutique seems to work fine.

Or better still provide me with a traceroute so I can see which IP may be blocked along the way.
