sorry

sorry for the lack of posts on the ducks.
i've been out of action (flat on my back in bed) for a few weeks.

checked them yesterday and they are still there, but not as big as i would like.

i suspect they don't get a lot of direct sun but i cant stick around to watch them all day. i've trimmed the surrounding bushes a bit but cant do too much or it might attract the attention of a passing bush walker.

pics soon

not very spectacular growth but at least bigger.
maybe its the watering? its been a very hot dry summer in Tassie.
There getting all the water i can get to them. Its either that or too shady!

Im sure they would do well here in Tassie, if i can find the right spot.

and a correction for the previous post

to " but i cant stick around to watch them all day"
one little word makes all the difference.

They do seem to appreciate lots of food and light tas ,
mine have responded well to that ,
the occasional sign of deficiency ,
seems to be fixed with epsom salts ..

mine are just going into flower here,
ive been lazy and havent gotten any pics of late,
but they are about worthy of a pic or two ..

update

its a struggle to get out to the plot atm.
it took me half a day to visit them and the rest of the day to recover.
anyway they are doing well, not big, but budding up and filling out.

only got one clear pic, the rest were too out of focus. i couldn't stop my arms from shaking. some days i feel so exhausted all i want to do is just lay down. oh well, i'm still here so its better than being dead.

thanks Don.
sorry to be such a whinger.
i'm getting old and its frustrating.
ignore my moaning.

i forgot to say there is nothing stealth about the Ducks#2 smell.
boy what a pong.
thankfully, the ducks aren't in a narrow gully but near a hill top where the smell gets quickly dispersed.
i think there too smelly for a suburban back yard with close neighbors.

last update

Sorry to those who were following this thread.
Especially sorry to Mr Duck who was kind enough to trust me with his beans..

I hope this post provides some info from the test grow.

Firstly let me say the plants did well considering the difficulties they had to overcome.
Poor sunlight and thick clay soils were the major obstacles. In other words a shit site.
Towards the end of the grow the plants received only filtered sunlight. As the sun moved northwards towards the june solstice, shade became a problem.

The yield was low but they did finish and produced matured buds. With a better location and well fertilised plot the yield would be much bigger.

Here are a series of pics of the last months of the grow.

Don said they are heavy feeders and i can confirm that. i suspect they prefer well matured organic nutrients.

next year i'll give them another run and i'm sure will do a much better job.

i'll do a smoke report when they dry.
