outside

I’m having probs at the moment.

The hydro duck just wont grow
And the outdoor duck are showing PH rust signs even thou I’ve been extra careful.

I’ve decided to put em in the dirt and see if they are just missing the outdoor environment.
The soil PH is 6.5 - 6.0 and was prepared over a month ago with organic compost etc.

If they survive and grow then next time i’ll sow directly into the soil .

Here they are in their new spot.

they are generally pretty hardy tas,
so i expect the outdoor ones will survive,
as long as nothing eats them ,
they should power away once they have a few sets of leaf..

thanks for the encouragement Don.
the older plants have their third set of real leaves so they should be OK.

soon as i see them rallying, i'll post again.

the do seem to enjoy some training tas,
i bend the branches outwards continually ,
after tipping once,
try it on a hot day before you water,
and the stalks are all rubbery ..

the ducksfoot #2 is from all the information we could gather,
a cross of the original ducksfoot ,
and korean big skunk ,
i was given the seeds by a friend who did the cross ..

Sorry to be a pain, the boy was a Texada Timewarp X Korean Big Skunk. Excellent bud structure!

good info Don and Luvaduck, thanks

went down to check out the site today but couldn't get any pics.
my daughter has the camera for her holiday snaps

i'm happy to report that the ducklings are doing great.
only five days outside and there twice the size.
they certainly like it outdoors better than under lights.

i'll take some photos on the weekend.

As you can see the duck are growing well outside.
The leaf pattern is very “Ducky” atm. I’m hoping it stays like that.

the snail bait is essential in this grow spot. I’ve cleared away about 6 large slugs that died trying to get at my girls.

You can also see the watering pipe which is gravity feed from a water drum.
fortunately, there is fresh water nearby so I don’t have to cart water in.

More updates next week.

Just one thing has come up with the Ducks#2.
they just hated the nutes I was using, none of which were organic.
In fact all the leaves that grew while in pots are being shed and replaced by new leaves.
if I grew the ducks again indoors I’d try with organic soil and nutrients. They just love the composted soil there in now.
