Sour Power & GGxA11 test

I popped 11 Sour Power feminized seeds. For a running mate, I pulled out 7 ancient femmed Green Giant x Apollo 11 seeds that Fet had made of Soul's great work a long, long time ago. I thought a mix of the best of the old and new would be a lot of fun to grow, and even more to smoke test!

All the seeds germinated - even the 10 year old ones! They were all placed in 32 oz beer cups and 18/18 have made it through the dirt.

Seedlings:

From Here -

I will grow these out for a month or so, until they are big enough to take the top as a clone, while leaving enough behind for a dirt mom archive plant.

The tops will be rooted, and hopefully all 18 will make it to the bloom room to be flowered out using my normal bloom process.

I will track all individuals through the process and will start weekly updates once we hit the bloom room.

I welcome old friends, and hope to meet many new ones here in the Hortilab forum.

As always, your comments and questions are welcome.

Nice one aerokrafter!

Some seeds from the good old cw days...was just thinking about the BG today. Never tried anything from Fet though.

Keep us updated!

To the Cloner

SPR Moms:

GGA Moms:

In the Cloner:

Every plant has received its tracking ID number. These are assigned after I do a line up by height. This helps later when its time to lay out the canopy in the bloom room.

The Sour Power plants are very even in height. They have a slight peppery smell on the stems.

Everyone is lush and healthy. All the tops went to the cloner in good condition.

We are now scheduled to hit the bloom room in 25 days.

Day 1 Bloom Update

Cover Sheet:

Unit:

SPR:

GGA:

Here we go!

The cover sheet shows the phenotype key for this run. I'll be using my normal daily data sheets for tracking as well as pheno tracker sheets for growth data on each plant.

Everyone looks a little ragged from being crowded in the cloner. All plants are topped to two heads with three shoots. I plan a 2 part trellis for training. Pruning will be determined as we go.

The Sour Power plants all look very simular in structure. They vary in height a little from a couple taking a few extra days to root. They will get a little extra light and catch up soon.

The GGA plants were quite even in appearance and height.

This run is slotted for 65 days. I have a few days of slop in the schedule if the plants need them.

I'm pretty stoked to run these!

As always, your questions and comments are welcome.

Day 7 Bloom Update

Unit:

SPR:

GGA:

Data:

Everyone has started to take off! As the data shows, the plants have started to eat aggressively. Day 7 measurements show an average of only 2 inches of verticle growth.

I have 3 SPR individuals with lighter leaves. The darker leaved varients are just vibrant.

Over the next seven days I expect to get the first level trellis in place. I will selectively prune plants to maximise the canopy. Most of the SPRs will need very little pruning. They look to have excellent node spacing and are ready to be strapped in for takeoff. The GGA's are bushier and will need some trimming. All prune data is saved on the tracker sheet.

2 weeks of explosive growth coming right up!

Day 14 Bloom Update

Unit:

SPR:

GGA:

Data:

The plants have really started rocking! They are chowing down and have gotten a foot and a half taller on the average.

In addition to the trellis, the girls have gotten a bottom branch prune and a partial defoliation. It might seem a little early, but explosive bud developement is right around the corner and the extra light will help.

Plants that started with mottled leaves have straightened out and are turning darker green.

Still getting a spicy aroma from the SPRs, while the GGAs don't have a defined smell.

A couple phenos of SPR are just strikingly beautiful and are in the lead right now for best of grow. SPR is budding faster and harder than GGA. SPR tends to be more columnar, while the GGA is bushier and required more pruning.

We are off to nice start!
