If get the Merlins Magic you could reverse engineer them... F3 pheno hunt. It would take some time though for sure.

Uncle Fishstick ran some and had a nice report and pics. The high sounded very familiar.
Been reading up that the "gold" part related to the drying process. Something like digging a trench around the plant and letting it dry on the stalk in the open. Doesn't sound like a good idea, but I know for sure it was truly golden weed I had back in the day.

Thanks for ACE and CBG MrSterling. CBG has a few sat options that might qualify.
If i cant stake it down to grow like a melon vine, i cant use it to vigor up the strain.
CBG seems to have a few that can make many long vines with large melons.

Thanks Stranger, both for the vote of confidence, and the suggestion of reverse engineering MM, but i am working on borrowed time. It seems as if 20 years of inbreeding has taken a toll upon the viability of recent seed... or i have lost the ability to germ them.

yesum, thanks for the lead, but after looking at that version of PR (which sounds real good BTW), it sounds like it was bread for stockiness (or had been inbred for 7 years? cant remember which). I would love to grow it for smoke, but i need something a little different for this strain.

huligun, i have some of those strains you named. Trouble is i give up on trying to get them to germ 20 years ago. Now after inbreeding for 20 years, i am lacking viable genetics needed to grow a mate for my current strain as i watch less seed germ each year.

I applaud you for trying to bring back such a beautiful strain & wish you good luck in finding her. I remember her well !!! probably more than most of the great strains from back then with the exception of a hawiian sativa i had once

My suggestion would be back crossing the merlins magic also . I bought 2 packs of it myself hoping for an ACG leaner .

D.D. I can't speak for any other sativa genetics but I can vouch for Dutchgrown's Merlins Magic, DG had sourced her AG from mexico and then used her super stud C99 male to make the Merlins. I know you aren't really interested in the C99 side of things but the AG used is the real fracking deal, I had 2 phenos, 1 very C99 influenced and the other was AG dominate but in the curing stage the C99 side came through, both plants had a lovely golden colour buds to them and both yielded like mofos.
I reckon the Merlins Magic is your very best bet to go pheno hunting through for your AG fix, as the phenos are hiding in there, just my 2 cents worth mate

I have been reading of 2 releases, the original, and BX hit with c99 again.
The 2-for-1 doesnt specify which release, so will i be getting original or BX, or one of each?
(Or is this something i should have requested on the order form?)

SoCal cerca 73 I had the pleasure of coming across what they called AG. Fluffy long buds as golden as the SoCal hill tops, loaded with seeds
& sold as a lid. As soon as the guy who had it came through the door I saw his eyes, redder than major doobies avitars' eyes, I knew then I had to have it.

The high was like pouring acid on a watermellon,
total melt down, racy, trippy, very edgy, as the song goes " you don't know what you got till it's gone ". Half the weight was seeds, think I payed $25.00 per lid. Wish I had a cpl seeds myself now.

I can still see the color of those lids.... never seen anything like it since.

I guess at this point what is added to the mix matters little as long as it remains 100% sat.
All i need is something to put new life into an old strain whos seed germ ratio decreases with each generation. I need to go from a 1/10 germ rate to (at least) a 1/2 germ rate without changing the lineage too much.
The last strain to go into the mix was 1987 brick with Jamaican bottle caps found inside.
